| Beta Firmware BEFW11S4v1 **This is a Beta firmware so use it at your own risk** Technical Support is not provided with this firmware.
Good news for the BEFW11S4 version 1 users, we have a beta firmware it is version 1.42.7, it will give you the same features as the version 2 router.
If you would like to test it, you know what to do e-mail, me make sure to include the model and version number of the router.
1. Add PPtP WAN connection type.
2. Simplify "Setup" page of WAN connection setting.
3. Add UPnP function.
4. Support multiple LAN clients ping to one WAN host.
5. Some parameter settings don't need to reboot devise (Password,
DHCP, MAC Filter, Forwarding, DMZ, MAC Address Clone)
6. Provide multi-IPSec pass-through ability.
7. Add DNS and WINS setting in DHCP page.
8. Support wireless station MAC address filter and active station MAC
address table.
9. Solve wireless problem that client with WEP disabled still can
communicate with system with which WEP is enabled.
10. Fix the space character bug that ESSID field doesn't accept it.
11. Force to Enable MTU and max to 1492 when PPPoE is selected.
12. Provide user to select PAP/CHAP in PPPoE and support ISP reject Magic
number.
13. Fix the problem that the system will send out ARP request with random
target hardware address. The target hardware address should be
0x000000000000.
14. Allow user to accept or refuse broadcast SSID to associate. If select
to refuse then the SSID text will not appear in the Beacon frames.

Please send via email the beta software. I have a BEFW11S4 version 1 (original). My current firmware is 1.40.3. Serial no: G2710706286. A small problem is the router needs to be reset, perhaps once per day, when my Internet Connection freezes or gets very slow. When this happens, it freezes both the wired and wireless computers. Do you think beta firmware will cure this? Any other suggestions? I run Windows 2000 Professional

Re: Beta Firmware BEFW11S4v1 Dunno... My Linksys is going berzerk also. I have to force my XP boxes to static to get them going on the Net. Let alone mu other 2 lap's don't connect at all... This sucks... Pass me on the newest Beta and at least a previous stable version if anything goes sour... Fairly computer literate...

Anyhoo.... got and flashed 1.42.7 last night without any problems including some changes.
What bothers me (and has with past betas!) is Linksys' total lack of any documentation, particularly involving new features. Linksys, how about at least a text file describing new features / configuration, etc.
