WOW Website out and Surfing problems

Yesterday night i was surfing the web and found a few sites that would not load. I tried releasing and renewing my ip and that did the trick for a short while but after 15 minutes the same website would not load. I then found out it wasn't that particular website but the time limit. Almost every 15 minutes i could not connect to any website for about a minute but if i waited and hit refresh after a short while the website would be back up.

Today, i haven't tried my connection, but here from work i can not access the WOW website.

Anyone else getting these problems??

Please call 1-866-4WOW-NOW and cancel... The faster you get rid of WOW the faster you will be off these boards.

LOL, I'm not ready to cancel yet. I have no other cheap choices for broadband in my area.

Let me make a statement on complaining.
Complaining about a service that you are paying for but not recieving, I say complain on. The more the merrier. That insures changes and conformation to the publics rights.
Now, if your agenda is to complain on a public forum to sway subcribers to another provider, then thats different.
I havent been on this WOW thread that long, I have not yet seen any reason to tell me that Siduron agenda anything other than trying to get what he pays for. (yet)
I dont even know Sirduron, so I cant judge his actions.
When I was with Comcast, You could call me the " Complainer" out right. If my quality of service w/ WOW starts dropping to a point of being a problem, then Sirdurons gonna have to take a number and stand in line to complain. I'll be bogarting it.:)
I guess that was a part of getting WOW to our area. They saw on DSL Reports all the complaining about Comcast. That started the initial consideration for coming into Michigan.

I agree with you 100% and in fact I was known to complain about the shotty service of Comcast in the Comcast forum... But I beleive siduron's posts to be bogus, It's hard for me to swallow that he is virtualy the only person out of thousands of WOW subscribers that has these problems, And it seems like he has a new problem everyday.
I guess its posible that I'm wrong but I doubt it.

Time will tell
If he's anything other than what he says, it will raise its ugly brow and make its presence be known.

Since this thread was started by someone other than siduron, it would seem clear that at least one other has problems.

My experience with other providers is that customers of a provider in one area can often experience exactly the opposite service that people in another area are. Point of fact, right now I'm pretty happy with my CoxHSI service, but there are members in Arizona and Louisianna that are having absolutely terrible times. And some complain here at DSLR on a daily, if not hourly, basis. They have the same right to post their complaints here as anyone else does, or that anyone wanting to post positive comments does. They also have the right to NOT be attacked personally in the forums.

You were not the only one that was having issues last night: »Wide Open West(WOW)

It is not uncommon to have an antagonist in a public forum. Having said that, many of us know first hand that it is entirely possible for one area to have severe problems on a network while other areas are running fine.

Looking through one of the posts above, I could have sworn that I read something similar someplace else. The resemblance, while probably coincidental, is uncanny: »Connection problem....

It looks more like Verio and AT&T Data Communications Services aren't talking to each other this evening, at least traces going from WOW to Verio or Verio to WOW. Outbound from WOW, it looks like things are getting hung up at 12.122.11.210 - it kind of looks like it's stuck in traffic in Chicago.

Well I don't think that my post was a complaint. I was only asking for help and bringing to light what was happening to my service. I hoping that others would confirm that yes they were having the same problem. This way i could determine if it was only me. Also, maybe someone knew of a fix or what was causing the problem.

When i did get back online at home my connect seemed to be working again. There were no 15 minute intervals were i could not acess any websites. Actually the connection looked like it had less lag and some websites came up in really quick. So whatever was wrong yesterday is hopefully now fixed.

WOW changed all their IP addresses. In doing so, they failed to keep the old addresses active during the changeover. They abruptly shut down the old addresses before the new addresses had propagated to all the DNS servers, a process that can take a couple of days. This affected www.wideopenwest.com, mail servers, and it sounds like it affected their DNS servers as well.

All should be OK by now.

Kip

From what I can tell, this is also related to WOW to Verio. A tracert I just did from work (not on WOW) to dynamicdrive.com follows the same path from AT&T to Verio via 12.122.11.210, however, it does doesn't hang. Has anyone contacted WOW about this yet?

I am having similar problems. Just before I came here I could not consistently get to my Hotmail account. Pages kept coming back server not available. Refresh and then they would show up. Delete an email and not available again. Two days ago it was IBM.

I can't see any pattern to it and the sites do come back. I mentioned this in another post a few days ago and someone else said they had a similar problem.

It is just a few sites. If I didn't try those sites I might not have noticed a problem at all. But I am having the same type of problem. Originally I thought it was a DNS problem but I am sure the addresses are resolved. I simply can't access the site nor ping the address (yes it is a normally pingable address). HTH
