| reply to fatonuseni Re: WOW Website out and Surfing problems
I can connect to every site just fine, speeds are kinda slow but not that slow to where its unbearable, yes for cable they are slow(i get about 40k on average), but like it was stated before they are just starting up and getting the kinx out. And for everybody who is saying they are gonna cancel, i say please do, more bandwidth for me. |

The best description I have seen for private when it comes to the traceroute can be found in the following link (just replace Comcast with WOW ):»Re: Comcast Tracert - Private Networks?? |

| reply to fatonuseni I have also had the same problems with some web sites...etc. There is definitely a problem with the routing of traffic to/from certain networks using WOW. I am going to call their support line right now and put in my 2 cents.(and remind them I am paying for a service that is not living up to my expectations.) Everyone who has these kind of problems has got to call their provider or there is no feedback. I'm sure the network admins aren't sifting through these forums looking for work. |

How is their weather? I heard storms are coming this way. All the bad weather they had in the east, where that tornado was, I am sure some problems occurred. |

| reply to fatonuseni You guys need to give Sirdiron a break! You have no right to tell him to stop whinning unless you want to pay his bill!
I have had WOW for a week and a half and am not happy at all.
Service call was supposed to be Tuesday the 16th. I took the day off work to insure installation. No show no call! After calling they said someone would be out on Sat the 13th, I call back on Thurs to check and guess what, no service is scheduled!!! Ok so now they are coming on Friday the 12th. Guy shows up and is in and out quicker than a $5 whore. Sat morning wake up and check my e-mail, service completing down! Call service and they say the line is down? and will send a tech within 24 hours. Sunday morning check and the service is working but no e-mail. No service tech or call again!
So far I have had 4 days without e-mail or service. It also seems to be dog slow. I dont mind working with WOW to resolve the issues because I hate comcast, but I am not going to bend over and get taken like a prison newbie by this company. I give one month to make me happy or I will join Sird and bash these guys.
And if anyone doesnt like it, then dont read it! |

Still having problems reaching some sites as I can see following the numerous threads in different topics...
I still feel like things will get sorted out, but then again I am the eternal optimist...

| reply to fatonuseni I am having similar problems. Just before I came here I could not consistently get to my Hotmail account. Pages kept coming back server not available. Refresh and then they would show up. Delete an email and not available again. Two days ago it was IBM.
I can't see any pattern to it and the sites do come back. I mentioned this in another post a few days ago and someone else said they had a similar problem.
It is just a few sites. If I didn't try those sites I might not have noticed a problem at all. But I am having the same type of problem. Originally I thought it was a DNS problem but I am sure the addresses are resolved. I simply can't access the site nor ping the address (yes it is a normally pingable address). HTH |

| reply to DGDefiant From what I can tell, this is also related to WOW to Verio. A tracert I just did from work (not on WOW) to dynamicdrive.com follows the same path from AT&T to Verio via 12.122.11.210, however, it does doesn't hang. Has anyone contacted WOW about this yet? |

| reply to fatonuseni WOW changed all their IP addresses. In doing so, they failed to keep the old addresses active during the changeover. They abruptly shut down the old addresses before the new addresses had propagated to all the DNS servers, a process that can take a couple of days. This affected www.wideopenwest.com, mail servers, and it sounds like it affected their DNS servers as well.
All should be OK by now.

| reply to fatonuseni Well I don't think that my post was a complaint. I was only asking for help and bringing to light what was happening to my service. I hoping that others would confirm that yes they were having the same problem. This way i could determine if it was only me. Also, maybe someone knew of a fix or what was causing the problem.
When i did get back online at home my connect seemed to be working again. There were no 15 minute intervals were i could not acess any websites. Actually the connection looked like it had less lag and some websites came up in really quick. So whatever was wrong yesterday is hopefully now fixed. |

| reply to DGDefiant It looks more like Verio and AT&T Data Communications Services aren't talking to each other this evening, at least traces going from WOW to Verio or Verio to WOW. Outbound from WOW, it looks like things are getting hung up at 12.122.11.210 - it kind of looks like it's stuck in traffic in Chicago. [text was edited by author 2002-04-25 23:00:18]
