There have been a number of reports in this forum regarding problems accessing a number of websites. From what I have been able to tell, this effects sites either hosted by Verio or routed via Verio. tracert's for all of the site names that I have seen identified as having issues route through Verio, however, access is not a problem from other ISPs that I have tried (I can reach these sites from my EL account and also from work). If the problem still exists when I get home tonight, I will give WOW a call. I would also suggest that anyone else experiencing this issue also call WOW (if the problem exists while trying to access from your WOW account).

Good ideal! What'll do when I get home is conduct some tracert to sites I can't reach and give WOW a call. Thanks!

Think this might have anything to do with that train wreck cutting fiber yesterday? The article (»Train Wreck Slows Internet) states that there may be some residual routing issues...
Anyone more knowledgable about that kind of thing care to venture a guess as to if that may cause these kinds of problems?

Maybe, but if it is a cause it might be more due to routing priorities than a direct effect. I had trouble (as well as another user) reaching some sites on Wednesday night (prior to the train wreck). But with the maze of routing on the internet, it would be possible for something like the cut lines in Ohio to potentially effect users who normally don't use that stretch of pipe.

So you think that it's probably not what was causing your problems, but might be causing problems for others?
Sounds fairly logical...

If you were referring to my previous post, my opinion is the the issues related to access to the sites noted is probably not due to the train wreck (because similar problems were experienced prior to the train wreck). I am also stating that an individual could experience connectivity issues to certain sites even if their ISP does not typically use the effected lines because of priority traffic re-routing as a result of such an incident.

I spoke with WOW this evening, in addition to the DNS issues that krogers11 already reported in a different thread, the issue regarding access to the Verio hosted sites appear to be related to the IP change from the 12.X.X.X to 64.X.X.X. I was told that they have their network engineering group working on the problem and expect to have it resolved over the weekend.

Are you sure you didnt paste and copy MY url in there?
Looks just like mine.
Now is this a problem w/ DNS servers or node problems?
