| Teired Pricing at Insightbb?
I emailed Insight this morning about their thoughts on teired pricing.. This is what I got back from Patrick Cannon:
It is an option that is currently being discussed. We won't have any information about this for a couple of months.

| illini25 you might wipe that smile off your face if tiered pricing is nothing more than a buzz word for higher prices for the same amount of service were getting now! -- low cost and fast speed is what customers want in broadband |

| Exactly AJICQ, has anyone seen tiered pricing from other cable broadband providers for 3000DL and 128UL? Be careful for what ya wish for, because if they try to get the dial-up people on cable broadband with tiered pricing with no upgrade in equipment, we might be paying 55 dollars for 1500DL and 128UL. Iggy will not be a happy camper. Since I see that insightBB wants to keep us at 128UL, the 256/386UL will not be cheap if offered, IMO - $30 to $50 more. |

If I have to go on a tiered pricing plan and pay more for less d/l speeds, I will be roasting marshmallows with Iggy.

| reply to cdgreer We have been through all this before. The whole point of tiered pricing. Is for those of you who are happy. Can pay the same or less for service. But it also is. For those of us who aren't happy with " broadband on training wheels". Wish I could remember which 1 of you here. 1st said that quote = I like it! There are a lot of " killer apps " for broadband. That can't be used or put in place. Do to broadband companies low upload caps. Some of us would like to use video on demand on our pc. Some of us enjoy communicating & seeing. Others from around the world. And the list goes on. All of these things & more. Whether you realize it or not. Require. You guessed it! A higher upload speed. Ever have a streaming video crap out on you? In most cases. This is do to your low upload speed. Either way. I've clearly stated I'm willing to deal with. A reasonable increase in my bill. As long as 256 or higher upload is offered. Tiered service will bring this choice to the consumer. And for a consumer. The best thing you can have is choice! So it's time the cable companies. Started releasing the services they have been bragging about for so long! Your happy with your speed & cost! That's great! Tiered pricing won't hurt you. But for some of us. Who want & need more from our connections. Tiered pricing ( if setup proper ) should be a welcomed relief! And please! Can we stop making this personal. It's getting a little old! -- *IGGYZ* *TeamZ* |

I would be to if I was paying $34.95, but by the time service was made available to me the price was raised to $44.95 and the only way to get the $10 discount was changed from just having cable TV to must have digital cable TV..I can't afford to pay $100 a month to the cable co so I dropped their TV service all together..I suspect others have done the same..If prices was not to be raised in 2002 as they said I think it should apply to everyone including new customers without forcing the digital TV service on them. |

| reply to cdgreer Re: Tiered Pricing at Insightbb?
It seems alot of broadband ISP's have moved to this tiered pricing and many more are discussing it. I found it interesting that I never read where Insightbb stood on this so I sent an email specifically asking them. You all know the reply. I thought the purpose of this forum was to inform people on subjects of interest. Since I've never read a post on Insight's stand on tiered pricing, I thought I'd post one. Sorry if I ruffled anyones feathers, I seem to have a knack for doing that without even trying. |

| I for one. Am happy you posted. And your right about what the forum is for. My comment wasn't made in reference to the thread. Just a few comments made in it. Information sharing. And opinions is exactly what this forum. And other forums here are about!! -- *IGGYZ* *TeamZ* |

Exactly. You should be able to get what you pay for. If cable wants to reduce competition with dsl, and to appeal to the more technical customer, they should really consider tiered pricing. |

| reply to cdgreer This the answer I got from Insight on 5/28 to the same question:
This will be offered to all areas that have the InsightBB available to them
The best estimate that I can get is 1 month. I have made some recommendations for different packages, but nothing has come out as to what the packages will be. |

Here in Indy, we only need to get Classic Cable ($34/mo. or so) to get $10 off InsightBB. Not that I'm getting it myself; TV isn't worth $34/mo. these days. I'd double-check with your Insight office, though. -- Yeah, well, at least your name isn't Michael Bolton. Join Team Helix! |

This is the new policy.... Old subscribers still get the original deal but any new subscribers are required to have the digital package... which as I've stated before, is unfair in Columbus because digital is not even offered yet. -- Make a Joyful noise unto the Lord! |

So this is how Insight can promise not to raise prices this year... by stiffing new InsightBB subscribers who don't have digital cable. It makes sense now... -- Yeah, well, at least your name isn't Michael Bolton. Join Team Helix! |
