| More RealOne Problems... I thought I solved my problems with RealOne but I guess not. Every time I insert a audio CD, RealOne launches, even though I told it not to. This also happens after EZ CD Creator finishes making a CD. Is there anyway to stop this nuisance without removing it? -- This is a Manhattan-bound 7 Express train. | In prefs did you click on cd and uncheck start playback when inserting cd? |
 | This is how i have mine set. |

| reply to Straphanger Hmmmm....I didn't notice that. Thanks for the tip, it did the trick for me. It's weird that RealOne would do this even though I didn't assign it to play CD Audio. There's also a reminder that my beta version is old and I should get the new version. Should I get the new version or stick to the beta? -- This is a Manhattan-bound 7 Express train. | I got the new version. I actually like it..some people hate realone, but i find it plays great here. The upgrade was painless. Just dont forget to delete the phoning home file again once you upgrade. Uncheck tkbelle or whatever its called in MSCONFIG. Reboot. Navigate to the location of evntsvc.exe. And delete it. Then you got spyless realone. You can always upgrade manually when you want to. [text was edited by author 2002-05-27 17:44:05] |

 | Nah, its not actually spyware, but its constantly phoning home to see if you need an upgrade which in itself is a certain type of spyware. You dont need this file running up at start up, useing up resources and giving info to realone. Its your choice. Works great without it. |

 | hmmm..are you sure..should be there. K, click on find folders..see if evntsvc.exe is on your comp. Did you reboot after installing? |
 | This is what you should see in msconfig. |

This is what I found in a search. Should I delete both of them? |

| yup you got it..just delete the realone one. Just remember to check for updates when you want too. Once deleted it wont phone home anymore at start up. Dont delete the first one listed!!!! Just the realone one. [text was edited by author 2002-05-27 18:31:04] |

 | Your welcome! Well, it should give you an option if you dont want it phoning home..but it doesnt no matter how many times you uncheck automatic updates. This was the only way to get rid of it. ENJOY! |
