Anyone Thought About Calling a TV News Station?

I'm sending an email now to my local station with an explanation and link to the OKC problem tread to see if they want to help.. I doubt it, but you never know.

Not if they are using Cox phone services

Seriously, I wonder if Brad Edwards would take Cox on.

Hey, here is an email address for the Oklahoma Cox customers: InYourCorner@kfor.com

I just filled out the form at www.kjrh.com here in Tulsa explaining what has happened over the last 6 months and the lack of any credible response to what is happening. If you are in Tulsa, please do the same, the more complaints the better. In addition, I would suggest others in other cities to contact their local channel also.

Hows this look?
Any suggestions appreciated.

»Latency in Oklahoma City

Mr. Edwards,
As you will see in the above link (30 pages of the same problems) Cox has continued to have problems in the OKC area as well as other points across the country. (Phoenix, R.I.,Virginia etc.)

The people who frequent this forum seem, for the most part, to be above the average PC user skill level and have tried to get Cox to address issues of latency spikes and packet loss since the conversion from @home. (This occurred around the middle of February.)

These issues cause the "high speed internet connection" to time out (404's, server can not be reached) and drag in loading pages from the internet, in some cases below dial up speed. We are not talking about downloading large files in P2P applications we are having trouble getting our E-mail and surfing the web! It must also be pointed out that gaming is also almost impossible.

Cox will often "roll a truck" to pacify a customer but it is a useless gesture as the truck techs have no control over network/router issues on the Cox backbone. It often leads to further frustration of the customer when the tech tells them there is nothing he can do and will "escalate the ticket" which more often than not means you will neither have your problem resolved or even hear back about it.

Being that Cox is a monopoly in our area, in regard to cable service, most of us feel impotent as Cox neither communicates about nor fixes said problems.

We are paying a premium price for a premium service that we are not getting!

To make matters even worse the business customer, whether they realize it or not, is suffering EXACTLY the same problems!! With the old @Home setup, the Cox@Home and Cox@Work networks were totally separate - @Home could have issues that didn't even affect @Work. But with CoxHSI - both residential and business customers are on the same lines, using the same routers, etc. The DNS assigned to them is the same DNS that I get assigned here in my residence.

So, business customers who probably feel they are paying a premium price (minimum cost is $100/month) to get special service are not - they are getting the same trouble laden service that I do for $35.95/month.

Can you help us?

Interesting idea at least but you would have to catch the eye and/or ear of someone who would really feel the pain of the unhappy Cox customers. And a good sum of emails, letters & phone calls would need to be up there in numbers to get there attention.

But I would suggest for many reasons to use caution and facts in doing so.

TV stations are into helping grandma get a refund for the ab-energizer she never received by mail or helping someone who got a shoddy roofing job by XYZ contractor. They are not going to take on something of this scope.

Edit: Not to mention that a TV station and cable company will have very close business ties and it wouldn't be politically smart to start stirring up that pot.
