>>>Wanna Run Classic SETI? Look here!

I set this up because all the links at the top of the forum is getting a bit old, and none of them has a walkthrough. The instructions below are for NEW USERS who have NEVER signed up before. These instructions apply to the CLI only, as it processes Work-units faster than the screensaver version. Here goes!

1) Create a new SETI folder somewhere on your HD (e.g. C:\Program Files\SETI@Home)

2) Click HERE and download the Command-line Interface (CLI) version of SETI@Home to your new SETI Directory.

3) Start the CLI (i386-winnt-cmdline.exe).

4) When it prompts for 1 or 2, enter 1.

5) Enter the your current email address.

6) Follow the instructions, and answer the questions it asks.

7) Now it will download a Work-unit and start running.

8) Press Ctrl-C on your keyboard to close it down.

You will now download the programs that come with the CLI.

9) Click HERE to download SETISpy. Put it into the SETI@Home folder. It will tell you a lot of goodies about the Work-unit you're working on. Go here to learn more about SETISpy.

10) Click HERE to download SETI Driver. It stores work-units for you as backup IF Berkeley's servers are down.

11) Setup the CLI/SETISpy/SETI Driver to work together by configuring your settings using the step-by-step screenshots (made by Doctor Olds) below:

12) *OPTIONAL* Get SETI Cache Spy, made by one of our Team Starfire members, overhill, and you can see the information hidden in the cached Work-units that you have on your computer! It is great for checking if you have duplicate WUs that Berkeley doesn't give you credit for. Also includes many nifty tools for you to use! Download and see for yourself!

13) Click HERE to download a small file if you are running SETI on a Windows 95, 98, 98SE or ME operating system computer. Extract the one file that is in the ZIP to the [drive]:\Windows directory. This will prevent the CLI from showing a warning dialogue when shutting down Windows without shutting down the CLI.

14) *OPTIONAL* If you want SETI to run at startup, simply put a link to SETISpy in the Startup folder. SETISpy will then start SETI Driver, then SETI Driver will start the CLI HIDDEN!

15) Most important part! Join Team Starfire HERE!

16) Get the SETI Club Globe beside your BBR name! The globe lets all the members of BBR know you belong to the Team Starfire SETI Club.
1. Click on Members in the upper left of this page.
2. Click on Extra on the new page.
3. Open the pull down beside Add Profile Entry:.
4. Answer the question DSLR Seti@Home Details: Why did I join?
Here is a screenshot:

In a day or so, the globe will appear beside your name!!

You are all set to crunch! If you have anymore questions, please post in the forum!

17) Welcome to Team Starfire!
