Goggle search engine

Not sure if this belong in this folder, but it is sort of site related.

Saw a post on another message board, not related to dslreports, which suggested that someone enter a screen name in the Goggle search engine.I entered just jim1133 and it came up with a half dozen posts that I had put on the dslreports message board. There may have been more, but I didn't pursue it further.

The first one said something about an "age check" so I clicked it. Sonovagun if it didn't come up with a dslreports post in which I had off-handedly mentioned I was 80 years of age.

I'm amazed at how far dslreports has spread.

google is an excellent search engine because it does not take much notice of tags and hints that webmasters put (or spam) into their own pages to attempt to get into the all-important top 50 for the keywords they like.

It also doesnt auction spots to the highest bidder! you might have noticed typing DSL into altavista.. guess who comes first? Flashcom. cheque-book search engines ...

Google ranks based on how many sites also about the thing you are searching have links to sites that match.. if you dont use google to search, you're wasting time..

Interesting post, Justin. I have never used Google before, but after reading this it seems like it makes good sense. I'll have to put it to the test next time, as I too, get tired of "purchased" positions.

Thanks--
-Matt

I'll put in another plug for Google. (www.google.com)

Google is amazingly good at finding what I really want. It's what search engines used to be back in ancient times (5 or 6 years ago) when they really went and searched the web and not just the relative handful of commercial sites that, through payoffs or embedded tags, had stacked the deck in their own favor.

I learned about google several months ago and it very quickly became the _only_ engine that I ever use any more. Try it. You'll like it.

(And in case you're wondering, no, I'm not connected with google in any way whatever)

I hope goggle will keep up the good work now that yahoo has partnered with them.

Yet another vote for Google. Aside from the fact that you don't need to put a + in front of everything to do the obvious "include all words", it's also blisteringly fast (minimal graphics), and my favorite, you can request the page from Google's cache, so you can see what it indexed if the page is no longer there or has changed.

I used to use Altavista, now I can't stand it; I've been spoiled by Google.

Another great thing about Google is that you can put in a search term and hit I feel lucky, sort of like random yahoo used to be,(what ever happened to that feature on YAHOO?) never know what you'll get, good for when your bored and can't sleep.

Have tried Google in the past and wasn't impressed with the hits I received. A good chunk of my search requests deal with agriculture and farm equipment. Hotbot gave me better results every time.
