AT&T Broadband: yes, upload and download are slower, but 84ms for ATTBI to my HQ in Boston from Los Angeles vs 98ms on Sprint. A total of 10 hops on ATTBI, but 19 hops on Sprint. |

Worldcom will do the higher upload in the PacBell area.
I am trying to sign up for Cyberonic/ Worldcom, but they mysteriously could not install it on a line that previously had Earthlink/PacBell DSL. Yes, the carrier was fully released long ago (when ION was folding up). PacBell claimed there was a load coil IN MY HOUSE, even with everything disconnected to the NID.
So I am trying again on a different line that has never had DSL and I know exactly where all the internal wiring goes. |

About the only choice for decent upload speeds at a decent price are the WorldCom/MCI 1.5/768 ADSL resellers such as BritSys, DSLi or Cyberonic. |

Does anyone provide a higher upload speed in the pacbell area??? Please help

I just wish the providers of dsl exceeding 1.5 megs would get with the dslreports folks so that these offerings would show up when you try to use the dslreports.com prequal tools. |

Speakeasy.net was slow in responding to emails... and Cyberonic decided that they were at my CO after all. $59/Month with 5 IPs at 1.5Mb/768kb and no contract. $99 install and I must return the modem/router if I leave.
I will miss the 8Mb down, but I'll almost get the same as the "so-called" 1Mb up. |

Someone on the Speakeasy forum answered my question -- Los Angeles Covad connections go through the LAX POP, Worldcom goes through SFO.
Since most of Sprint Biz DSL traffic seems to go through Stockton, SFO doesn't sound too bad. I am asking them about ping times to my VPN... |

Internap is indeed the choice for IP routing that Speakeasy uses. However, if you evaluate them, be sure to check where the nearest pop is. If you don't live in a city with a pop, you'll have to endure a long trip to get to your default gateway. |

no you dont need to look at the business section. its just easier to find under the business section. they also have it for most of the residential packages they offer. For gaming cough* You get a nice gf4mx with it. |

if your signing on for residential you gotta fill out everything then find the comparison for all that lists. If you go to the business you should be able to see the comparison chart on the next page. just click on that and you'd see the speeds. |

The links that I find on Speakeasy all refer to a Covad-type service of 1.5/384, nothing is 1.5/768.

They offer business class access at those prices and they have peering agreements with several (seven I think) level 1 providers for their backbone. As for their policies re: port blocking and acceptable uses I don't have a link handy, but they have very very few restrictions.

This SpeakEasy 1.5/768 with 2 ip's for $99 seems like the best deal around for those who want a decent upstream speed.
Do they block/hijack any ports ? |
