Hey, Sorto -- how about posting pics of your kitties???
How do you deal with all that hair???
My daughter is planning to drop by this weekend with a digital camera to try to catch a shot or two of the new baby girl. (I call her Chigger Chat, 'cause she is such a constant pest to my sweet boy, Bandit.) If she gets a good pic of her, I'll post it.
So far, the fur is not a real problem. Bandit's father is a grand champion and Bandy did inherit his beautiful, immense coat. Fortunately, he demands frequent grooming, will stand on my lap and warble-purr (sounds like a kitten nursing only louder). He turns every now and then so I can get to everything with minimal effort. We are both soothed by this process and it keeps shedding to a minimum. Of course, there are always those sticky-roller lint removers for what manages to cling to me.
It's too soon to tell about Chigger. She is not a purebred. Her mother is all black, medium length fur. I think she has a lot of Persian in her. I'm told her father is a beautiful Himalayan, but I didn't see him. Right now her coat is thick and short, so fur is not a problem at the moment.
She appears to be a seal point, but has this soft white layer of fur over the top of her ears. Looks like she had her ears frosted. She doesn't have the little short nose and the smoosh face appearance like a typical Persian/Himalayan and I'm not sure she'll have the big eyes. Her eyes are round and blue (so far), but she looks more like a Siamese to me now than the typical Himalayan. They are an interesting pair.
I actually brought her home to babysit until my daughter's friend could make arrangements to take her. Well, I guess she kind of grew on me and now she's part of the family. :::sigh:::

Well, for starters here are their kitten pics. The one of Chigger was taken by her mother's owners. Bad pic with red eyes. This one was touched up by my daughter to get rid of the red, but doesn't show true color, blue. If I can get a more recent one of her, you'll see she looks much more Siamese now that the points are filling in and the body fur has gained color.

| Thanks, jofef and Nnaul.
Bandit is a very sweet fellow. He is a gentleman and has had a tough time adjusting to the ever playful Chigger. He would prefer to move out of her reach than to stand up to her. Sadly, for him, every day she goes higher and higher and poor Bandy has fewer safe places.
I have been trying to teach him he can smack her back, but (until today) I had never seen him do it. This morning he managed to sneak onto the bed with me, one of his favorite things to do. He had rolled on his back. I was rubbing his tummy.
Problem is, he was warble-purring, a dead giveaway to his location. As expected, Chigger suddenly appeared in his face. Really shocked me when he rolled over, faced her, opened mouth wide, hissed, and smacked her ... well, he tried to, just didn't quite connect.
It was a good thing, because he had the opportunity to see she will back off if he insists on it. For a moment, anyway. He's learning.
Yes, Bandit, is a bit unusual. The lady who owned Loralyn Cattery (Oregon) at the time was experimenting with color, attempting to introduce a new color for show, Himalayan bicolor. Unfortunately, about a year after Bandit was born her health forced her to choose between breeding and her cat shelter. As much as she loves these beautiful cats, she felt the poor little homeless waifs needed her most. I still keep her updated on Bandit. She wants to know if anything goes wrong, says he still has a home with her if I can't keep him for any reason.
As I mentioned, his father is Himalayan, mother is a sweet bicolor Persian. Pics of the parents included.
