Sorry to hear this smokeyjoe. Maybe they're having some problems today. Give it a couple days to see if it clears up before jumping ship. You never know. I had seen UUnet give problems getting the second channel connected at times, usually during peak periods of the day, and it is very annoying. |

The link to the access numbers that was given above says 56k V90 by all of them after I searched for my area. Are these numbers also ISDN lines as well, or do actual ISDN numbers say ISDN next to them.

Well SI pissed me off today (I call and upgraded my account from dial up to isdn 8-23-02 do not have name of who I spoke with). Well yesterday they did something to there system and today my isdn would not work. After long time on phone them telling me my dns was wrong I find out I have a dialup account (the system upgrade did me in) and they can not fix me until tomorrow so I cancel that was unacceptable.
So now I have sbc out of 8 local numbers for me I can not get the second channel to connect for more then about a min or so now did not have that problem with SI except on weekends. Maybe I was wrong for dumping SI but they handled it so poorly I was hot If they could of fix it today would have not canceled. |

| I had a similar experience with them. Something was set wrong the the guy who can fix it already went home for the day.
There are lots of ISPs out there. Finding an inexpensive one with ISDN access can take some work though. Have you checked out »www.voodoocreations.com? A good place to start looking is »www.findanisp.com. |

I'm surprised that none of your 8 SBC-Yahoo numbers will connect reliably for dual channel ISDN.
If you want to test further and don't mind paying a short in-state long distance charge, try calling one of the 2 Kalamazoo, Michigan numbers (269-226-8815 or 269-342-4530). These numbers work fine for 128kbps connections, and they should work for you, too.
If they don't work for you, then you know you have some sort of ISDN line or local configuration problem.

My SBC Yahoo is working great. Never had better service. Apparently SBC doesn't care whether the user dials in with ISDN or analog. I don't know why more ISPs don't have the same policy. They probably have an ISDN PRI line with 23 channels going into a card that supports ISDN or analog. We're setting one of these up at work. If I were using one channel I would be using the same resources that an analog user would be using. I guess since most ISDN users want to use both channels that would immediately double the number of lines that they need. Perhaps I just answered my own question. |

| Brawney, I have been using them for dial-up for about 20-25 days so far and they are horrible in my area. I get disconnected about 6-7 times a day which includes the usual 6 hour 53-57 minute disconnect. Around peak time, 7-11pm I get about a 3800ms (yes thats 3800, not 380) ping reply from google.com which always gave me a 50ms ping reply when I had cable.
I'm not complaining, just letting you guys know that they basically suck in my area.
I'm going to go with a local ISP instead, 27$ a month though :\ At least I'll be able to e-mail them and get a response in the same day. Heck, I could even go down to their building and talk to someone =) |

Sounds like a plan to me! Its too bad they don't offer good service in your area. I have been very happy with SBC Yahoo so far.
I see Screaming Internet is slowly getting their new Level 3 network numbers online. They don't have a number that is local to me so I will probably be cancelling SI soon. If you can get a local ISP for $27 that sounds like a good way to go. My local ISP is $40 so I will only go to him as a last resort. |

| Well having started off with toast.net when I first got my ISDN installed, I must say that SBC YAHOO! works great. When I first got my ISDN line I had an account with toast.net which was $40 a month for 128k ISDN, it always connected and the speeds were about 60k and 122k depending on whether I used only one or both channels, but using it for multi player gaming like I do it had a lot of packet loss, so I decided to just get a dial up ISDN account with BellSouth figuring since I had the line with them they would give me the best service, there service was awesome, but they did not support 128k in my area so I was stuck at 64k, it connected at 62k and had very little packet loss and awesome ping, most of the time in the 75-95 range. I was satisfied and it worked good and only cost $20 a month which they added to my phone bill, but I wanted the 128k in case I needed it, so when I saw this I said for the price and the fact that the first month was free I would try it and see, all I can tell you is it's very impressive. It says the number for my area is only 56k v90, but it connects at both 64k and 128k with out any problems. I noticed a slight rise in my ping, between 100-115 now, but connects are 62k and 125k and it appears to be rock solid stable. I am going to give it another week before I cancel my BellSouth account just to make sure, but for the price and the quality of service this deal just can't be beat. Like said above though, there is no guarantee that ISDN will work, you will just have to sign up for the free month and try the number, if it works great if it don't just cancel before your 30 days is up!

Update: For anyone interested I have been using SBC Yahoo with ISDN for just over a month now. Everything has worked flawlessly. I cancelled my Screaming Internet account today.

I'm getting ISDN through SW Bell here in Southeast Texas. Brookeland Texas to be exact. All is setup (interface on the house etc.) except the Telco construction side has to remove 2 load coils from the line that was there for analog. Hopefully I'll return home after work tomorrow to see a green light on my US Robotics Courier I-Modem
I'm currently using prodigy.net that was offered through SW Bell. They have gone into the merger with SBC and Yahoo also. Been driving me nuts to upgrade to SBC Yahoo but I've refused since my dail-up was still working just fine with out the 'extra' software.
I checked through the links provided here and the number I dail-up is one listed on the SBC Yahoo access number links (409-981-6589).
I'm gonna be sick if I can use my ISDN on the same number. I just paid 6 months in advance for a local ISP (jas.net) to provide me ISDN dail-up. It was $30 a month. If it does work with SBC Yahoo maybe I can sweet talk them into a refund. |

also reading the forums we have been able to get isdn in tn for 38.00 mth, my question is if i wire my whole house with telephone line from one of the analog ports on the back of the ta can i still use my caller id (analog boxes)( and will they work with the isdn service ????they say caller id is included |

| My caller ID is connected to the analog port on the back of my ISDN router. It shows the number when a voice call comes in.
As for connecting the whole house to the analog port on the ISDN equipment, I think much of the equipment is limited to 3 phones being connected. I don't normally connect mine this way. But recently I was trying it out had problems getting one phone to work elsewhere in the house so I am skeptical of how well this will actually work.

No I have not tried this yet. Sorry. I wonder if it would work though.
For anyone who is interested, I'm still using SBC Yahoo and it is working just fine. I've received a couple bills and it is $21.95 a month for unlimited use. I have not seen any extra charges for using ISDN. I didn't expect to see any extra charges but I wanted to be positive. Everything is working great. I even updated my DSL Reports Diary.
