| eDonkey FAQ I have noticed some people having some questions concerning eDonkey. Ill try to list them here along with answers.
Q. Why does the file continue to say looking even though
the d/l amount is the same size as the file amount.
A. This happens when the donkey found a corruption in the
file somewhere during the d/l. The donkey will
redownload that part of the file and replace the
corrupted portion with an uncorrupted portion.
Obviously this will make the file size seem bigger on
the donkey interface. No need to worry, perfectly
normal and actually one of the best donkey features.
You will know a file is done when it says "complete"
Q. My file just sits there looking even though its ready to
complete.
A. This happens occasionally. Very simple to solve. You
have two choices, you can simply pause the file wait a
few minutes and then resume the file which should then
complete or shut down the donkey and restart it (this
one always works for me).
Q. When I see a server list in the .met format,what do I do
with it?
A. Just paste it into to your eDonkey folder. It will
replace the old server.met file. Make a backup of the
old one just in case.
Q. Every file I click on on sharereactor says "not a valid
ed2k link" and will not download.
A. Simple solution, download the link fixer in the eDonkey
guide up top. Make sure you install it to the eDonkey
folder.
Q. I installed the fix but some links still don’t work,
what do I do?
A. Right click on the link itself, choose copy shortcut,
paste the shortcut into your browser, now delete any %20
you see in the link you copied to the browser. Hit
enter and it will send it to your donkey.
Q. I cant connect to any servers, what do I do?
A. Try connecting to either of these two servers:
217.157.202.134 (VCDistro)
24.217.24.72 (Unofficial BBR Server)

Nice little tip if your having trouble connecting to a server.
1.If you're having trouble getting connected, you'll see a message similar to this in the message window (lower-right window).
2.If eDonkey2000 will not connect, type the command vm, then enter. This will display all available servers. In this instance, there are many more servers available, however, due to space constraints we could only display 11 of them.
3.To connect to a server, type the command c 1(to log onto server number 1), or c 2 (to connect to server number 2), and so on until you get a connection message.
4.Type ? to get a list of commands.
Q. How do I add and connect to a server?
A. If your using one of the large server lists then just go
to the site, find the add all button and click it. On
maurice's site the add all link is at the bottom.
Always delete your old servers before adding new ones.
If you want to add individual servers simply go to the
server tab, right click anywhere in there, choose add
server, a box will pop-up, enter the server number
(remember the number) click ok. Now to connect to the
server, just find it in the list, right click on it
and choose connect.
Q. My file says complete but I don’t see it in my incoming
folder. / eDonkey says it can't move one of my
downloads to the incoming folder, what do I do?
A. This happens sometimes when someone is d/l from you the
same file which is completing. Once complete simply
shut down the donkey, find the file in the temp
directory (if you cant remember which file it is, simply
find the file with only one part, files not completed
will have two parts in the temp directory.) Once you
find the file name it to whatever you like but make sure
you rename it with the correct extension.
Q. I donwloaded a .bin file what do I do with it?
A. If your d/l a .bin file you should also d/l the
corresponding .cue file. There are many options when
you get a .bin file. You can 1) Burn it use a program
like Nero(start Nero, choose file, choose burn, find
the .cue file, double click it, another box will pop-up,
choose disc at once, click ok. Let it burn)
2)For movies you can use VCDGear to extract the mpg.
3)Use Daemon Tools to create a virutal drive to load the .cue
file and be able to watch the .bin file or run the setup
program if its a software application.
4)Use ISOBuster to extract
all the files from the .bin.
Q. I downloaded a .cue and .bin and keep getting errors
when I try to burn it, what can I do?
A. This is easily fixed. Find the .bin file, copy the
exact title including the .bin extension. Now find
the .cue file, open the .cue file using notepad. It
should look similar to this:
FILE "name of file.bin" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
INDEX 00 00:04:00
INDEX 01 00:06:00
Delete everything in the quotes, in this case we would
delete name of file.bin. Now place the title you copied
in between the quotes. Save the changes and close out.
Thats it, your .cue file should work now.

| You might want to add a Q&A about ID number mysteriously dropping to 3 digits or less after a few days of running. I know I posted a question about it and was told it was a known bug. BTW great job on both the Q&A and the guide. I can honestly say without your guide and dumwaldos review i wouldn't be the donkey rider i am today. |

edonkey sucks. never get a connection. never get good download speeds, etc. imesh= 35-100KB/s and connected immediately. |

did u read the donkey guide?
did u post a request for help instead of reviving something more than a month old that has nothing to do with your problem?
start a thread and post your options page. there are many donkey users here who are willing to help you. i wouldnt start with "the donkey sucks, Imesh is better" though, might not get much help with that.
