Re: Anyone play with the Westell Wirespeed modems yet? We looked, but we could not find it. What version of the CD do you have? What folder is it in?
This is for the customers who do not have a NIC and freak out when I pull out a screwdriver to open their PC to install one. -- hAS aNYONE sEEN mY cAPS lOCK kEY? |

NetTech$Acdriver join:2001-07-31 Birmingham, AL | The Westell Wirespeed 2100 series..Its Westell's Dual Boot Router package that has been re-configured to BSFA specs. It's either an "Ethernet" or "USB" Adsl "Plug and Play" modem. This particular modem is now being phased in to make Self-Installs a simpler process. With it, there is no need to install a client onto the PC...the client is configured into the modem itself. Another note concerning this modem..it has a more robust 'front end'..meaning that it pulls better stats on longer loops then the Alcatel series. So far in the field trials, customers and ADSL ST's are really liking this modem. NetTech |

| Does that mean the PPPoE client is actually in the modem then? Meaning that my linksys router won't need to be configured for it? Actually it looks like if they really are using the 2100, then I'd only need to use a switch. But I don't see why they'd be sending out a "Multi-user NAT router" for single user home ADSL accounts. NetTech$Acdriver join:2001-07-31 Birmingham, AL | The BellSouth Version of the Wirespeed has been reconfigured (chipset removed)..the PPP client is built into the modem, changing it to a stand alone MODEM. This modem -in this configuration- is NOT a router..just a modem..BUT..it has the capability to connect to the PC by USB "OR" Eithernet..but not both at the same time..(it's a either/or connection).
