It really depends on your router. I used to run a Linksys wireless router and I took a pretty big hit in performance when I enabled WEP. Close to 50%.

I have Cisco now and I don't take that much of a hit at all in the performance arena.

If you are concerned about LAN and WAN performance, then get high quality wireless equipment like Cisco.
