Management tool for Speedstream 5260

Posted this:

»software management tool for Speedstream 5260

In the SWBellforum, since that used to be my ISP. Now I see that maybe this should have been the proper forum.

Does anyone here know the answer to my question regarding a SW-management tool for the 5260?

Regards,

The only thing that could need management on the 5260 (that I am aware of) is the VPI/VCI pair. This can be changed with EnterNet 300 v1.5 Software.

If there is a separate utility for the 5260 unit, I've never seen it in the wild. The ISP's must really put a stranglehold on it.

Hi!

Modem now works after changing VPI/VCI from 0/35 to 8/35.

Thanks a lot!

But had to find someone with a Windows OS pre-WinXP, since EnterNet300 is not WinXP compatible.

Is there any way/tool to do this under WinXP?

You can try the Newest version of EnterNet at the Webstore here »store.efficient.com/OnlineStore/index.jsp to see, but it is rumored that the tab to make the change was removed from the later versions of EnterNet. You have to register to download the EnterNet 300 for Windows v1.5c SP2 Evaluation software and it does not say if the latest version is XP compatible that I can see though.

P/N: EN300-WinEval
Windows Evaluation Software
Price: 0.00 (USD)

There may be an ISP/Internal tool, but I've never seen it "in the wild".

Note: There may be true value in having either an extra older PC around the house with Win98 on it or Dual Booting your main PC between Win98 and WinXP. ;)

Hope this helps.

A little update on this info.

found this, and it is not a trial as far as I can see.

Enternet300 1.5C SP2 from 2002.06.04 for 9x/NT/2000/XP download here: »www.adsl4u.net/cn/software/sw_pppoe.htm

This worked for me under WinXP!

Thanks again Dr Olds!
