Stalking lilhurricane See Profile. Kidding. I've been meaning to join up once I got more RAM. 1GB is quite sufficient now.

scrolling over the little spinners. I used to do seti and with the release of the bionic software I quit because it was messing with my computer so I joined TD.

I've been a member of DSLR for years and known of this team for a while. This forum gave enough info to make "Discovery" my choice.

I've been aware of the distributed computing clubs since I became a member of BBR, but with an older computer and not having broadband service I didn't think of joining. I have lurked in the forums occasionally and have been impressed by the sense of family here. lilhurricane See Profile gave me the appropriate shove nudge and here I am. Thanks Lisa!

I had been a member of UD for a number for years, and through moves and computer wipes, lost contact for awhile.

When I returned to UD after this absence, I was still in my original Team, which had pretty much faded to nothing. (no activity)

I left that Team and started searching for a team, which appeared to be active and determined.
I believe I found it HERE.

Basically, I searched teams until I found you.
Then, through the Team Discovery UD forum, I saw mention of TSC and started using it also.
(Thanks to a courteous member of the team, I was soon informed of a bug when running both UD and TSC simultaneously) Thx lilhurricane

How did I find out?

I have been poking around the corners of BBR for over a year, so I came across this a few times. I have known about distributed computing since back when SETI started up.
It was not until lilhurricane See Profile started waving her pompoms in my face and threatening to beat me with a large stick that I joined up here.

I've been around here for a while, since 2001. I have been meaning to join and have just been doing one of those, I join up tomorrow. Tomorrow turns into next week and next month and so on and so on.
I finally joined because I lost my father to cancer on May 31st. My resolve is to do all I can to help, no more waiting and putting thing off. I'm glad to be here.

I pondered for months after I discovered SETI and Team Discovery in the list of forums.

I can not believe we are alone in the stars, but takin' care of business here won the debate in my mind.

OK, I smoked for a long time and this is good for my conscious too.

I saw someone in some forum i was browsing, and i noticed this little animated gif image by his name. I saw that he belonged to team discovery. I then did some investigating, came across SETI@Home, looking for ET. And I saw Team Discovery, looking for a cure for cancer. I have lost a few family members, and quite a few acquaintances from cancer. It just seemed natrual for me to volunteer my 3.2Ghz P4 EE to this project. Hopefully I can help bring Team Discovery to the top of Grid's rankings!

I joined Seti when I first came to BBR. While here for the last year or so I met alot of people that have become good friends.I knew of Team Discovery and what they stand for ever since I become a member here at BBR.It was a thread that I saw here about a member having the fight of his life that made me want to join.I hope with all my heart and soul that one day Cancer and other diseases are forever eradicated.

Actually have known about the SETI thing for a while now by just surfing around on BBR. However, I just recently *discovered* UD (and the blue icon everyone has in their tray which I've been curious about) on a newsgroup service site (name escapes me at the moment).

Reading a thread from an affected member made it "personal" to me.
Seeing just the tip of the mental oppression caused by this disease... how can I not?

I knew this existed from the start. But I just never thought of doing it until my friend asked me and begged me to search for ET. However, after looking at the clubs pages, I found it more useful to find a cure for cancer as opposed to searching for ET.

Might as well put my computer to use for something good when I'm not using it.

I used to be a member of DSLR years ago, and was also a part of UD back then, but overtime, I pulled away from the site.

I've bene a member of the site again for sometime now, but just haven't really thought about joining, until TechieKid Invited me to job, so I thought to myself.. What the heck

Lessee. I did SETI here, I did Folding here. I got kinda sick of SETI and alas I forgot about Discovery until I was watching the Discovery Channel and American Choppers was on. And then they showed a commercial with Lance and the AC crew had chopped out his road bike and then it said "Welcome to the Team, Lance. Proud sponsor of Team Discovery".

And, then I had the slap the forehead moment, and since I don't ride nearly like lance does (I'm lucky to do 100 miles in a weekend), but I respect the man, and I've always been "home" here at BBR's DC clubs, I figured I can't ride, but I can sure as heck crunch, and here I am, at Team Discovery. Hopefully tomorrow my third spinner will show up .
