Re: New Members Please Read!

I found out about Team Discovery right here at BBR. I am always in some of the other forums, saw Team Discovery in the forums list, checked it out, and joined.

I saw the little thing spinning below lilhurricane's name and clicked on it and just read about it and decided to do it because it sounded right.

I was already doing UD program for over a year and I happened to find the teams section of BBR when I saw the little spinning thing and decided to join the team.

My brother asked me to run UD on my new computer.
I have been crunching on his behalf.
I since have joined BBR/TD.
I'm on dialup, but crunching away just the same.

I owe a debt to Sportyrider, he crunched SETI for 90+ days and I promised to crunch here....will most probably continue on here once SETI classic goes away.

Cheers

I just joined TD last night at lilhurricane's recommendation. I learned of the project on AskDg.com (now defunct) and became highly intrigued at the effort. Lil filled me in with more details and pointed me in the direction to become a member. I'm honored to play a part in the fight against cancer. Thanks for having me!

I've been a member of various distributed computing projects for a long time now...I haven't been running any for a few months now, since my old computer was on its last legs and I didn't want to overstress the CPU.

Now that I've built my new computer, I'm ready to crunch again! I usually split my CPU time between a research/genetics project (hence UD) and a science/math project (Seti@Home or one of the prime number searches).

I crunched on UD a few years ago for my University's team (which only had a few members). Now that I've graduated, it was time for a new team. I've been hanging out on BroadbandReports a lot lately, so here I am.

I was reading the General Questions forum and some one had started a thread about what most people do with their PCs. I was expecting the first reply to be something idiotic but the first reply was from bbrcat and it completely and immediately grabbed my attention. I'm very impressed about what this project is all about and I'm also very proud to crunch along you guys.

I'm a BBR addict, and I just happened to stumble onto the clubs. And, I thought, why not? And here I am today.

I joined when another BBR member in the RCN forum made a post to someone saying that their computer that has been on for 5 months could be used for something useful such as Team Discovery.

I heard about it right here at BBR. This is where most of my online time is spent.

BBR has become my new favorite place to hang out online. I found out about Team Discovery by surfing around. I joined because I am a cancer survivor, son of a cancer survivor, and grandson of a cancer survivor.

Anything I can do to help.
