You may want to remove AOL before installing RASPPPOE, and in some cases, RASPPPOE wil not peacefully co-exist with WinPoET or with VPN, although I've heard of cases where it has. Question - there isn't a drop down box giving you the NIC as an option? -- Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked. Join the DSL Reports SETI@Home club. Anon | reply to 72245156 nope. but i will try the other options u guys said. thx for the help everyone. two more question though, how much more memory does WinPoet eatup than RasPPPoE? and How come somtimes my browser seem to "freeze" for a few seconds before displaying a web page (it happens on downloads too sometimes)? |

Anon | reply to 72245156 during. for exemple the file downloads at a certain speed and all of a sudden the 2computers icon stops signalling and my speed drops significantly. then after awhile it starts downloading again. sort of like it has to stop to catch "breath" before receiving more data. |

| OK, another question. Does it happen on every download? If not, then it's likely due to the server you are downloading from. -- Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked. Join the DSL Reports SETI@Home club. Put your unused clock cycles to work! |

Anon | hmm...good question. i think it happens most of the time if i just d/l directed by clicking on a link. but it doesn't show this problem when i use a download program like download accelerator. |
|
Anon | reply to Aladrin yes..after uninstalling almost everything like you guys said RasPPPoE finnally worked. its much better than WinPoet thx guys. i have a minor question though: every time i close my browser a message window pops out asking if i want to close the connection..(obviously i dont) since its kinda annoying, is there anyway i can disable this message? |

| Yeah, it should have a checkmark on it for that. If not, you can go into DialUp Networking and change it there. Disable the idle and the thing that says 'Disconnect when connection may not be needed'
(Right-click on the RASPPPoE connection and click Properties, then choose the 'Dialing' tab) |
|
Anon | i tried that but there is no dialing tab. the only tabs that show are General, Server Types, Scripting, and Mutilink |

| You're looking in the wrong place. Go to Internet Options, either from the IE Tools menu or the Control Panel, connections, settings, advanced and make sure that the two boxes are unchecked there. -- Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked. Anon | They are unchecked...but i still get this message. |
