Anon | Approved Comcast Modems Modem List
I just wanted to add a list of current Comcast modems, it took me a while to find it. So I thought I would start a new one and try to make it easier for people to find it.
It was originally posted here
And was posted by Teriwyn Who I would like to thank for this fine list. THANKS A LOT Teriwyn

Its about time internal cable modems came out. I've heard about them for years when the DOCSIS spec was finalized, but they never appeared until now. |

| There has always been internal modems, just none that comcast wanted to use.
they may be a nightmare to work with though.
imagine, right now if lightnign hits yer cable line, it'll just blow out your modem.
imagine if the modem is in your pc! |

| Phone modems get fried on a regular basis since people forget to run the line thru a surge protector. Besides the modem, I haven't seen any major damage done to a PC unless it was a surge directly from the mains into the power supply. As for configuring, it can't be any harder then setting up a PCI NIC. Then again if you don't have Windows you could have a problem. If the company isn't willing to release documentation for the hardware, you might be waiting a long time for a driver. |

| I decided there should be a place on the web where we have a listing of the approved Comcast cable modems. Since Comcast refuses to do it, I decided to take matters into my own hands. You can find the listing here. -- Visit and support DSLR/BBR on irc at irc.zerolimit.net #BBR Come on and chat! |

You mean you don't have a surge suppressor on your cable line??? You should. |

| Whatever is easiest for you. I put a mail link on the listing page for any updates, so you can do it that way as well. Maybe we can post it in a separate posting and make it "sticky." -- Visit and support DSLR/BBR on irc at irc.zerolimit.net #BBR Come on and chat! |

| reply to pmokover I have found NONE that don't introduce any sort of noice ingress or signal loss. My modem already has one H of a time staying connected. All I need is another few dB of loss. What kind of miracle suppressor (brand, model) do you use?

| Any chance of adding some additional columns? One to indicate whether or not each modem has user-accessible diagnostics/logging. Another column to indicate whether it has separate send/receive lights.
To start things off, the Toshiba PCX1100U (my modem, sigh) has neither. |

If someone can give me a complete list as to which ones do have a diagnostics page, I'll happily update the list on my web site. -- Visit and support DSLR/BBR on irc at irc.zerolimit.net #BBR Come on and chat! |

| The cisco UBR904 is on the list (as is the UBR905 and UBR925), but absent is the UBR924. Is this simply an oversight, or does anybody think that the UBR924 wouldn't work?
I found a great place to get one cheap and was just about to order one. I can't imagine that the UBR904 works but the UBR924 doesn't, unless there's some very specific problem (or they've decided to disallow it for some reason)...
