Phone modems get fried on a regular basis since people forget to run the line thru a surge protector. Besides the modem, I haven't seen any major damage done to a PC unless it was a surge directly from the mains into the power supply. As for configuring, it can't be any harder then setting up a PCI NIC. Then again if you don't have Windows you could have a problem. If the company isn't willing to release documentation for the hardware, you might be waiting a long time for a driver. |
