5360 upgrade approved by SBC finally.

SBC has finally accepted there is a firmware flaw and after fighting with our managers here I finally helped get them to approve to put this on our download sites:
»download.pacbell.net
»download.swbell.net
»download.sbcglobal.net

also our tier 1 tech support should walk you through this if you need help.

Great Job!! I've heard a few stories of Tier 1 not admitting there was a known problem (due to lack of approval, right?) so this will help all around.

Sorry to hear that it was an ordeal on what should have been easy to approve.

Your managers need to get up to speed.

SBC approved this firmware at the beginning of July. That is when is was posted at Efficient. If SBC hadn't approved it, it wouldn't have been posted at the Efficient site at that time.

I think you have the who made the Modem, who wrote the Firmware, who released the re-written Firmware to fix the problem backwards. SBC is only mentioned due to them being a large customer of Efficient 5360-023 units. It could have been Bellsouth, Earthlink or any other National ISP's name up there if the total number of Efficient 5360-023 units sold were larger to another ISP.

exactly....SBC has a very long chain of command that takes a while to get things approved. They do not endorse any other site but their own. Unless it is on our site SBC does NOT approve it. But as DOC Olds stated, Efficient does mention SBC because we have a contract with them to use their modems. WE, SBC, did not approve this patch until about a week ago.

You know, the point you missed before when you posted the direct download link to an SBC server was, I wanted users of Ameritech.Net to see the software on their download page.

Posting the link here doesn't address that. I don't even have one of the 5360s. Besides, I've known about it since it went up on Efficient's site months ago, and the need for it weeks before that.

Please, see if you can find a way to get the patch placed on Ameritech.Net's member software download page. They are an SBC company, after all, and have their share of people/companies who received 5360-023 units.

AmeritechSof···ware.zip 43,046 bytes
(AmeritechSoftware.pdf)
Ack, you know what? It is there!

They have it erroneously listed under the link titled "Windows XP: DSL Modem Drivers" which points to »ameritech.snet.net/AIT/winxp_mod···rs.shtml

Problem is, it's not an XP problem at all. So if you could tell them to be clearer, that would help.

Thanks. I just posted about it in the Ameritech Funhouse forum here as well.

While you're at it, here's another member page that doesn't get updated, unless it's to change the date or time. The beloved Ameritech status page. If there's a page on ameritech.snet.net that has the right information, maybe you can get the webmaster to change the link.

I'll see what I can do but I don't have direct contact with any of the webmasters. We do get together with some of the uppers of SBC though, once in a while.

What utility did you use to make that Web Page into a PDF file?

Mac OS X 1.2. The built-in screen capture utility saves PDFs. Cool, huh?

Very Cool. Is there name for it? I've seen something called Print to PDF. Anyway it won't run on my X86 CPU's unless there is a PC version of OS X. Or is it FreeBSD level? ;)

We're going a little bit... okay, a LOT off topic here, but it's one of the Mac extensions to BSD. All I hit is Command-Shift-4, and then select the part of the screen I want to save with the mouse.

You wanna use it, get a Mac. OS X 1.2 is (arguably) the best OS you can get for a desktop machine today. This from someone who runs Windows 98, ME, 2000 Server, and Redhat 7.x onsite.

For Windows, pdf995 is what I use. »pdf995.com/

Just print with Paint or any other application, choosing printer from drop-down. Free with ad/nag. Cheap without.
