Also, there is a way in 'XP Pro' to disable those processes running in the background, it can be found in the help options of XP under 'Services', forgot exactly how to get there but you can disable any process you want from there, you would just have to double-click on an item then select either 'stop' or 'disable'. Just be sure of what you are disabling. Good Luck.
