 | BEFSR41 and Efficient 5360 Hi,
Are there any known problems with Efficient 5360 (060-5360-002) and BEFSR41.
At this moment, I am trying to use these two pieces of hardware to get a PPPoE DSL connection (I use Prodigy DSL with PacBell hardware) and I am unable to establish a successful connection.
If I use the Efficient 5360 ADSL modem and the Prodigy Internet Enternet/PPPoE software, I am able to access the internet.
The Router has my login/password, has the latest firmware and also has DNS configuration correct based on Prodigy DSL's dynamic IP.
Any advise would help.
Thanks,

You may also want to uninstall your PPPoE software or to try to establish the connection on a computer w/o it.
Do you get "Cannot connect to PPPoE Server?"
FWIW, as far as I know, the problem with the 5360 is with the part # 060-5360-023. |

 | Thanks for your input.
I no longer have the PPPoE software on my machine.
I can access the router at »192.168.1.1 and at that point, the router states that it has been successful in establishing a connection with my ISP (on the status page)
I cannot see any web sites though. Any thoughts ?

 | reply to mantra72 First check (1) whether you have a connection at all, then check (2) whether DNS is working. (1) Try to ping an IP address on the net. For example, 207.46.230.219. If you get a response, it means that you have a working connection through the Linksys gateway. If you don't, recheck your TCP/IP settings. in Control Panel/Networking. Easiest is to choose "Automatic IP address". Check the gateway setting. It should be blank. Reboot the computer if necessary. Also make sure that in the router advanced setup you did not change the setting from "gateway" to "router". (2) If ping to an outside IP address works, try to ping by name, for example, ping "microsoft.com" or "linksys.com". If you get an error, it means you have DNS settings problems. Check your TCP/IP settings to make sure you have not hard wired DNS settings where those would be provided automatically via DHCP. |

 | reply to claudeo Claudeo,
What if in point (2) he can ping a site with the IP number but not the domain name? That means the router is not accessing the DNS properly for some reason. I was having this problem with the Linksys NR041 and they told me to upgrade the firmware from 1.7 to 1.10, but it still will not punch thru to the DNS. I'm tired of fooling with it and am going to return the router and try a D-Link. I had great luck with a Sohoware Broadguard on another cablemodem project, but nobody seems carries it anymore. |

 | reply to mantra72 This is acutally a problem with the Speedstream 5360. There is a firmware update on their website that will fix this. |
