Can someone please give me a hand on how to do voice/video chat for Messenger 4.7 in WinXP Pro? I know I need to input some numbers in the boxes above but I'm not sure if I have the right one. The support at MS and SMC's website have been less than helpful (for me) and I was hoping some of you would know. I just want to be able to do video conferencing with my friends. Under Special Application, what values do I put for Trigger Port? Thanks. |

I have an 7004 AWBR and had a lot of trouble with this. I'm now running a beta firmware with UPnP enabled and can do voice/video chat with Messenger. You can try this site »www.practicallynetworked.com/ who has the numbers you need. The same numbers can be found in the SMC FAQs, but this site is a little more clearly written.
You might also consider trying by putting the computer in the DMZ. If you do this, remember to turn off the DMZ when you are finished chatting.
Another problem I've had with Messenger has been firewalls. When you try it, you might want to turn off XP's firewall and any software firewall you've installed. If you can get Messenger running without the firewall, you can then play with the firewall settings. Again, when your chat is over, turn the firewall(s) back on. |

Yes, but when will they have a firmware which will support UPnP? I have an AWBR 7004, a beta firmware was posted here, but then withdrawn due to some problems. It's not clear that a firmware that supports UPnP is on the radar for any of SMC's routers. |
