This would be a good feature to have, and TCPView has this already. |

MagnusM, Would you add the ability to copy and paste, also the ability to terminate a connections? ie high light a connection with ones mouse and then be able to terminate the high lighted connection.
Just some suggestions, be well.

I assume that the above would be considered to be an acceptable output from this program with no internet connection active except for mailwasher running in the background and Zone Alarm Pro running? Sammy [text was edited by author 2002-09-29 22:08:53] |

Does or will this viewer have a kill process for ports??? |
|
|
Name Game, it doesn't have a kill process yet, as far as I know. Certainly would be a good addition, though. |

Isn't the 'missing piece' still the program or application extension which has opened the port? It is difficult to kill a process if you don't clearly know what you are killing. |

I am not interested in killing a process but rather closing a port.It is called "terminating a selected connection."
Netmon has that as do many other (NETSTAT VIEWERS)
R2 have you downloaded this or just looking at that screen shot above? I am fairly certain you will find that the IP does display..but will go away once the page is loaded...but that will all depend on your OS and how it is all tied into Netstat. The same hold try for the other you mentioned on the .exe or process...I do not think he intends to take it that far and show the tasks. [text was edited by author 2002-09-30 10:43:10] |

Just one word, I use a little utility called "Active Ports" wicth has the ability to terminate or close a connexion and show you listening port and services. I got it from » www.ntutility.com last year. |

I like the ability to see what processes are attached to which ports, such as with FPORT » www.foundstone.com/knowl ··· ort.htmlDoes anyone have a good list of ALL the Windows apps for seeing what ports are active (particularly apps that let you see the associated processes)? If there isn't a good list out there, I can compile one and add it to my security page. -- Richard Akerman » www.akerman.ca/trojan-po ··· ble.html |

They have a couple of new features in v1.4 released a few months ago. As an application is connecting it will flash GREEN when it is being allowed to connect or RED when it is being blocked from connecting. |

Thanks. I like the ability to SEE the process that is actually opening the port. |

Perhaps it would be better to start a seperate thread if you want a list of those kind of apps. If you run Win 2k you will really like Vision v1.0 the successor to FPORT. It lists running apps, services, and devices in a gui. » www.foundstone.com/knowl ··· ion.htmlIt really does own. I do appreciate that Magnus took the time to make his Netstat Viewer 1.0 available for free. Paul, |

I do too and there are other that will beside active ports that would be nice for Richard to add..but I think Magnus is doing these two new apps to then eventually incorporate them into TH and they will have all the whistles and bells...you have to keep up with the competition in the AT business. The all in one "badboy" killer and firewall is right around the corner. You will even be able to update it by the hour. Then you can throw away all the AV/AT/Firewall products you now have and do one stop shopping (including the spyware and malware). |
