Little problem since last Norton live update

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this annoyance since updating NIS 2002 with the update last week. I have noticed that at some web sites gifs are not showing up. These are sites I often visit and I never had the problem before. I read the thread on the MS forum about gifs not showing up after the XP SP1 update and I don't think that applies here. I did notice that on some of the gifs when I click on properties they are listed as coming from akamai.net which is in my cookie and browser referrer block list. Is it possible that the update changed the way some gifs are displayed depending on where they come from because of my security settings? Is there a work around, short of removing the particular address from my blocked list?

If by "not showing up", kenita, you mean that adorable red "X", then yes I have noticed lately it is happening on more sites than usual. Next time I will click on properties and check it out. But I don't have akami.net blocked.

XP SP1 comes to mind as causing the problem. As well as IE SP1. Later I have avoided like the plague, and I don't have XP.

Here is what I would do:
Open NIS up and go to OPTIONS then click Norton Internet Security. Then I would click on Advanced Options and look for something called Web should be the last TAB. Click it and take a look at you default action settings, also take a look at the sites and how they are using those action settings. You may also want to look at what Ads it is blocking especially Gif Images.

I was blaming problems with my Transparent proxy server for this, wondering if it was caching the images properly. On reading this post I've done a little googling and found this

»support.microsoft.com/default.as···;q309287

which suggests it is an NIS/IE6 issue, there are similar MSKB articles that point to NIS.

Hi MoonWolf, Your post jogged my memory about something else that happened a few days ago. I was cleaning out the clutter on my hard drive and went a little too far and my computer had about 5 BSOD's. It wouldn't load back up to windows so I eventually had to use the last known good configuration. After I finally got it back to windows my NIS wouldn't load and my memory usage was at 100%. One of the processes hanging it up was iamap. Not sure what I did but eventually it finally loaded after several reboots. I also lost my cd-rw drive and had to do a system restore to get it back. I did not have this issue before my melt down. Some files must be corrupt, you think?
I'm curious as to if you had any melt downs prior to this same thing happening to you??

I've had all sorts going on recently. I've just upgraded my RAM and had one of my old memory chips fail. This has led to multiple rubbish. 128Mb +512Mb -128Mb =512Mb instead of 640Mb

Even without this, there are a lot of Microsoft Knowledge Base articles that suggest problems with NIS going back to IE5 (I'm on Windows 98 but I have taken my browser up to IE6 - I know, don't flame me, I make life hard enough for myself as it is)
