I think your modem had its firmware updated as other users have had this issue with other providers. Check it out:
»3com Sharkfin problems said by 3Com website: The Data Rate LED (second from the top) now has a dual purpose: If the CPE is connected to the cable modem (CM) via Ethernet or USB, the LED will illuminate. When the CM is sending or receiving data the LED will blink. (1.16 and above)
Formerly the Data Rate LED would blink when the CM was sending or receiving data, and did not illuminate at other times.

| Thanks there!!! I take it from reading those items, that all should be well, and I don't have any issues to deal with? Was begging to think I had some corruption in my W98 going on. I'd done a clean re-install a few weeks ago, and would dread the thoughts of doing it again. |

| check for what is using your connection during that time. could be a trojan, if you run a check and you come out clean the something else might be using the connection and using your computer resources causing it to slow down or freeze temp... -- I am not a genius, just a quick learner. |
