I just checked my speakeasy order summary today. There is a option to enable fileshack. What is this for and is it free? |

I don't have the provisioning option in my TAC tool. Is this something that comes with a Gamers package? |

| reply to mrprotocols The only priority you get as a Speakeasy customer is the benefit that these servers are located in our POPs, so you're not affected by the congestion on the Internet when trying to download any files. Straight from your house to the POP and back again.

| reply to mrprotocols According to the recent newsletter, everyone who has a Gamer package with Speakeasy can have a free Fileshack subscription (which is usually $7/month). It sounds like a very good idea, and here's a quote from the newsletter regarding the service. I'm trying to get myself switched over to a Gamer package now, the Sysadmin option doesn't offer any benefits yet it costs the same.

{Fileshack: Game File Download Service - Launched 10/15/02} Since August we have been beta testing an excellent game file download service crafted by the folks at Shacknews.com. The service is now commercially available and all Speakeasy customers with Gamer packages will receive a free subscription! For a peek, take a look at: »www.fileshack.com If you don't have a Gamer package and you'd like to sign up for this service, you may do so via MySpeakeasy's Add Services section.

| reply to mrprotocols Fileshack awesome. Registration is free for public servers and, like Fileplanet, access to private servers for quicker downloads and 0 wait queues for a fee. Fileshack has a great advantage over Planet right now because not a lot of people know about it. I downloaded Need for Speed 3 Demo, Dirt Racing 2 Demo, No One Lives Forever 2 Demo all during the time (about 20 min total) I was in a 40 min wait queue to download one file from FilePlanet. While this will eventually change as more gamers hear about it, I doubt it will ever see the traffic Planet does which, in this case, is a GOOD thing. |
