Re: Frequent Disconnects

It would help if you posted your system info, and what type modem you are using..then we can probably help you out.

Re: Frequent Disconnects

I have a Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem which is connect to a pentium 133 running Smoothwall (linux based). I almost positive thats its not a software issue since I also tried it on a windows machine with the same results. I also notice that I have a huge amount of packet lose(40%) during the times that I get disconnected.

Checking at the NID is the next step..follow this guide »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »How to check modem stats, synch rates & speeds from test jack at the NID. and post back with the results..

Re: Frequent Disconnects

I also have the speed touch usb, xp,1.4 ath with same problem. When I connect with little or no errors works great. It connects almost everytime. But when it connects with many errors pages will partialy load or not load at all. Seems to be an everyday thing. Bellsouths answer was radio or telephone interferance. That was a guess. I think the problem is in the modem. Any suggestions on a replacement modem to test my theory
