| I lose internet when I try to play CounterStrike
I just got internet through AT&T Broadband. Every time I try to update the server list in CounterStrike, my cable loses its connection and my modem has to be reset. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Last week I was able to play fine on another connection. No software changes have been made. Thanks for the help!

| I also have this problem and yes I am a new install also. I have tried different configurations and still can't get it to work all of the time like it should. I have tried other Multi-Player games and they seem to work fine. I would also appreciate any help!! |

@attbi.com | reply to Serus Update: It appears to not be an ISP issue. On the Counter Strike forums, people everywhere are having this problem. I guess it has something to do with the game itself.

When you say "cable loses its connection" what do the lights on the modem look like? Cable light on? LAN light on? |

| reply to Serus If you can try to connect to a regualar Half-Life Deathmatch and see if you can. And did you buy the standalone counterstirke? Or did you update Half-life and get the mod for it? Try and patch up counterstike at fileplanet.com to its latest version. And see if this helps if I can remember there was an issue with this in the past. Next if you have TFC try that it runs simlar code to counterstike. Gamespy is what I use every day I would not have it any other way. SO maybe its not a bad thing. -- Unix/WebSphere Systems AdministratorITD |

| reply to Serus I have mine connected through the NIC cards. I have the original Half-Life installed and updated to the current version and also installed the full CS-Mod. Sometimes I can get it to work through Game-Spy and sometimes not. Just in the last few minutes I connected to a server and it played fine but after I exited Game Spy I lost my connection. All 4 lights are still lit up and the activity light just flashes a bit. The only way to get my connection working again is to power cycle the modem. |
