Tired of using command to delete .avi's ? (XP)

As alot of you know XP will sometimes hang onto a file causing you to go into the command prompt and kill explorer to delete the file. Well if you want a permanent fix read on:

1. open up regedit.exe and head to the following key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler

2. Delete the default value and close regedit.

This should keep you from having to go through the long process of having to close everything and use the command prompt to delete the file.

I found that if i hit delete about 4 times in a row they usually finally delete. Thanks for the info...sometimes its a pain in the butt.

Why hasent microsoft put out a patch or something already? So many people have this problem on xp and if it wasnt for this site i would be totally stumped an frustrated when i first discovered the bug a couple of months ago.

So many of my buddies were going crazy until i told them about the command prompt or hitting delete many times in a row.
