I 2nd the ROUTER issue , up to 7-10 people now :(

this is not a fluke or user error.... its a real issue...

7-10 people in bethel park pa all coming down with routeritis in the past 3-4 days....

wish they would ackowledge it at least

for those who are having it...... IT WILL eventually get a ip that works if you keep restarting/powering down the modem with the pc and router off..... may take 50-60 restarts and a wasted day out of your life but it can be done.... just make sure you have it on a battery backup till this problem is resolved

Some IPs work and others do not? Does this make it a provisioning issue? Is Adelphia making provisioning changes at the Bethel Park Head End? Who does this? Bethel Park local personnel? Coudersport? Buffalo?

i have tried smc and 2 different linksys and a belkin all no go unless you want to spend 6 hours restarting and restarting the modem every half hour then it will ussually connect at least 2 days of that ended with it FINALLY working twice

As much as I'll probably get beat up for this, I am your culprit. I'm running an SMC Barricade Plus 7004FW, and upgraded the firmware on Thursday night. At that time, I also enabled the SPI firewall. This is when your problems started.

Adelphia deprovisioned my cable modem, which cleared up the problem, then a support technician called me and worked with me to get it working again. SMC sent me new firmware which they claimed would fix the issue. It did not.

The SPI firewall is turned off now!

To anyone I've inconvenienced, I sincerely apologize.

Connect a computer with 2 ethernet cards between the router and the cable modem and capture the DHCP request and answer, do the same between a Windows box and the modem.

I for one is NOT Going to beat you up.

Instead I'm going to congratulate you for making this post. I love it when people show me there are still some honesty left in this world. Congrates again.

Just one question: Which Thursday did you do the Upgrade?

Who's spinning what? This guy came here of his own free will and apologized for causing this mess. No one made him do that, and I for one believe he should be commended for it.

You need to chill out. Your problem is fixed, don't start slamming people at random because you are still pissed that this happened in the first place.

It was actually Wednesday evening (10/30). Early Thursday morning, Adelphia deprovisioned me.

The faulty 7004FW is soon to be on it's way back to SMC and my old reliable 7004BR is back in it's place.

Doesn't have the geek toys, but it least it doesn't try to rewrite routing tables...
