How 'bout building your own? Cheaper, better quality, and better performance. Get a P4 3.06, 2 gigs PC1066 RDRAM, and 4 200 GB drives in a RAID 0 array. Stick that with an NV30 and a Prometia vapor-phase cooler, and OC that thing to around 3.8GHz. Now that's a computer.

It's not the video card, it's the memory that matters more with the alpha. My friend with 384MB RAM and a Ti4600 got worse framerates then my other friend with 768MB RAM and a GeForce 2 MX200.

Makes sense. If its an alpha, theres still an ass-load of debugging code in there that will not be in the final release. Gotta have that extra room for it.

Damn straight dude. Start with a good Antec case, a decent MB, The best high speed DDR Ram ( I recommend Cruical ) that you can afford, A good AMD processor, a killer video card ( ti 4600 is awesome ) and a decent eide 7200 hd. You can add all the other stuff later.
Forget DOOM, Unreal 3 ROCKS!

naaa a real gaming rig, start with a nice smooth antec 1080AMG or 1040B II, add a true intel motherboard built with either intel i845PE or i850E chipsets, 1gig+ ram ddr333/400(look up on samsung, thats who corsair uses for their XML overclockers ram, or crucial/micron)or use rdram, p4 2.4-3.06, nice WD caviar SE 7200rpm 8mb buffer HDD, a gainward gf4 ti4200-ti4600 Golden Sample, and add a nice 850+cfm squirrel cage with a K&N 1000+cfm rated filter blowing over the processor and vent the case with some fat 120mm 150+cfm exhaust fans running your favorite distro of linux/bsd/solaris/unix or whatever you prefer......you can get some real performance outta that beast

People...the hardware is nice... but please remember one thing.. if you software suxs a$$ then the hardware suxs also..

So to make things all sorts of easy.. Drop the Microhard Shutters and get a real os.. Then you Hardware will truly kick butt!!!
