Re: Irony

I don't think the free goods charge goes to all the record company employees to have all the free records and DVD's they want. The execs, managers, mixing engineers, producers, lawyers (oh the humanity!), and hit writers might get a grab at the freebees but I doubt Rufus the mailroom clerk or Betty in accounts receivable are getting anything but donuts on Friday.

They do happen to do a lot of music giveaways by the way. Ever wonder about when a radio station says, "I have the new *insert artist here* CD here for the 35th caller." comes from? Also giveaways have to done for other corporate decision makers like the record and outlet stores and such. Lets not forget that Payola has to come from somewhere. I doubt they would have it as such in their accounting books.

RIAA employees won't have any MP3's or divx rips on their hard drives. They get their music and movies for free, and you pay for it!

It's part of the "free goods" charge, which is built into the wholesale price of the product, charged to the retailer and passed on to you!

It's a marketing strategy with the purpose of promoting the product to retailers and other industry participants. Don't ask me how promotion occurs when the product is passed out to RIAA or entertainment company employees. Word of mouth?

According to »www.cryogenius.com/dmca.htm, violations of the DMCA can be as high as $500,000 and 5 years in prison. We can only hope.

Like something out of a Kafka novel. Now let's get the BSA to audit them and see how many unlicensed copies of Office they have!

And all flavors of Windows, WordPerfect, NAV, Mcafee, Doom, Access, Word, PowerPoint, WinZip, NFL Fever 2000, Excel, ArcServe 2000, Macola Accounting, Sim City, etc. etc. etc.

Bastards.
