Re: Simple idea -- suffers from being 'too logical'. we could set forums rules stating that over-use of the features will not be tolerated. |

well then I dont really get it. We are gonna implement a new feature yet tell people to use it sparingly? I think its more trouble than its worth. -- aim sn Cl3tus01 | Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel |

| reply to R2 Very useful and easily implemented. Like last time this was brought up, I definitely *SIGN*.
People with scripting turned off in the Internet zone will have no use of it though... R2! ;) (but I'm sure they have BBR as trusted site..)

I am asking for something that amounts to nothing more than modifying a few lines of plain text.
Will it be abused? Not by newbies -- they aren't going to realize how to use those tags anyway. Anyone who knows how to use the tags can quickly type them. I certainly can. This site even offers instructions on how to use them -- just one click any.
Personally I go to many sites with 'buttons' and I don't see them abused in the first place. Are the members of BBR/DSLR so pathologic that we expect them to abuse something that other forum members don't?? (OK, present company excluded!;)).
I do not believe that having the tags presented in a usable fashion will markedly increase the usage of the tags. If you know what they are and how to use them, you are simply going to use them anyway. If you don't know what they are, then seeing them with angle brackets around them isn't going to make them any more clearer.
I think this simply makes it quicker and easier for those of us that use tags -- with a minimal expenditure from the site...
Just a simple, little suggestion. |
