Because it was cheaper than dial up. A second phone line and an Isp was about $40+ a month the Broadband was about $30 a month. Saved $10

Cheaper than dial up, plus I wanted to get those nice pings in online games, and the speed. So far I'm saving the money, still have the 60-80ms pings, and speed is still at the caps. I can't complain at all.

i got it mainly for the download/upload speeds..then gaming, but mainly for the speed!
