Asound blocks NAT box?

I have been using astound in Saint Cloud, MN for about four months. There was an issue with the phone install, the tech messed up switching my apartment with another in the same building, I ended up getting someone else's calls.

The cable internet service has been ok with minor slowdowns at peak use times. However, my attempt to use a Linux nat/firewall box failed. Has anyone had experience with this? I assume that when you pay $5 per extra computer(s) they provide you with a hub/switch or cable modem with integrated switch? It is frustrating that astound does not allow a hardware firewall even when used with a single computer.

I've been using astound high speed cable broadband with a NAT switch for over two years with no problems. I don't know why they would care, it's not like adding a more computers would affect them at all. You're not going to draw more bandwidth, you're just dividing it up.

Astound does not limit what you can attach to your cable modem, whether it be a router or NAT. Many users have successfully gotten these pieces of equipment to work fine. What Astound does not do is SUPPORT these items, though with a few resets and config changes, most users are able to get their network equipment working.
