That's something!!
I just downloaded the latest critical update no problems so I'd expect that another try will get it for you.

Reboot, and try again. Make sure you do not have any 3rd party proggies or background proggies running. Good Luck!

It was just a suggestion, you may have to but if there is another way around it then that's cool!

I may be wrong, but it looks like your monitor's resolution is not set high enough to view the page.

Try uping the resolution a tad and try new drivers for your video card too.

Looks to me as though you have set a large text size in IE.. (view - text size) or perhaps you're using your own stylesheet? The text on the page in your screenshot isn't supposed to be that large in relation to the other content, and because it is, the buttons don't have room.

Re: [W98] OH NO not AGAIN

NOW i am wondering if something as simple as this could
have caused the missing buttons at windows update last year!

2 and half months of email and phone calls ,i was bumped up twice and at the end was dealing with someone in redmond
i also sent them numerous screen shots.

I was never asked to check the message box text size!
it's not like "display properties" is a 3rd party app
its PART OF the OS!

Ever think of going to a new version of Windows???? I do not have this problem with XP Home Edition. And never had this problem with ME. After all Win98 is not supported anyway.

Microsoft may have changed the date again but my point is !!! Move on already !!!!

what do you do work for m$
when i do move on it will be to a mac or linux

MY POINT WAS a minor settings change from default
should not cause problems with something like this
(getting updates over the net)

not EVERYONE can afford a new os every time a LITTLE
glitch causes a problem

M$ missed the boat here AGAIN they could have made that
window resizeable or not have used message box text

Why?

Because we are told to?

98 RULES!

It's a tad unstable...
though I like to call it, dynamic.

There are more W98 devices on earth than
all other operating systems put together,
and there is more software available for
that system than all the others, as well.

It's nice to see that Nam Vet is experiencing
the wonder and discovery of the ever surprising
and totally arbitrary MicroSoft Empire.

Re: [W98] OH NO not AGAIN

I think you should ask santa for a new monitor.
A 14" monitor is not ideal for websurfing and whatnot...

PingPong3 See Profile has the right idea. The text size being large didn't leave enough room for the buttons. I bet if you dragged the window up so the top part is off the screen, your buttons would show up (along with the bottom of the window.) Anytime this happens, that indicates the resolution is to low, or the monitor isn't big enough.

I do hope to get a bigger and better one soon,
but the wife uses a 14" also (see screen shot above)
so the problem was caused by the message box text size in display properties being bumped up a little

This is after m$ forces everyone to enable active x !

And that window is NOT resizeable.

i did some more testing

reguardless of which of the 5 ie text sizes you are using
if "message box" text size is above 12 you will not see the buttons (the default size is 8).

you can see them after you hit "tab"
But who would know that? and everyone adjusts the display properties steetings under the appearance tab.

I did this at a font size of 14 (message box)

Nam Vet....I tend to agree that this is P--s poor programing by MS but they have done worse. I use 1152 x 864 resolution on my nineteen inch display and have the same problem with some of the programs that guys have given us to track G@H & F@H. I set my font size at 125 percent, because I'm "getting" old, on my former video Card and now after following this thread am wondering if it was a video card setting or a registry setting.

Thanks to all the interest you have stirred up here some day when I am bored I'll go though every thing. Settings in the present video card and all the font settings in the "Appearance" tab of the "Display Properties" and see if I can get a better set of font settings that will allow me to use these programs.

800 x 600 and again no one should have to adjust the resolution to see those buttons!
any thing higher is out of the question while i am still using this 14" monitor.

to be somewhat fair using google i did find one ms kb
article that addresses this.

»support.microsoft.com/default.as···;q243433

however it does not refer to message box text size at all

at the bottom it says reviewed 10/2002

i am not a programer and might be wrong but i think
the new v4 displays those buttons differently than the old
winup site did.
the old winup used java i believe for those buttons

if so then the above kb article is no longer valid.

AGAIN it is not the resolution !

its having message box text size at 12 or higher
and microsofts codeing

as a test i checked 2 programs and with both the window
got wider as the font size increased above a certain point

i took message box text size up to the max (24) and in both programs i was able to see the yes and no buttons

the eula window never increases in width !!!

i have screen shots if you want to see them
