| It is a topic that may be a concern. One thing though is they will not ask customers thought on the idea. So it is a mute point. My connection has been working great and this is the only thing to me that is even a conversational matter. FYI, I voted cancel CC and HSI |

| reply to newview the answer is entirely dependent on the following
1) IF caps are actually instituted and 2) What level those caps are at. If they are high enough then no problem, if they are too low then I'll complain and examine my alternatives
but asking now what I would do in an unknown hypothetical sitation is not very enlightening, but I'm sure the masses will hop on here and scream and yell like babies

Why, it seems like a very important topic, as it affects our ability to use and enjoy our Internet service?
If local officials and others will not hold providers accountable, seems to me the only ones that can are the customers and ordinary citizens.
I applaud Newview for his poll and taking an activist position on what Comcast is doing to its customers in respect to price gouging and dumbing down service. |

| reply to newview Ok, you are all aware that pretty much ALL providers save it be DSL, CABLE etc are considering caps right? So what are you gonna do when you have no option to goto that isn't capped?
Bottom Line - Until this happens it is pointless to keep discussing what we would do. |

| reply to Alphy I'm curious why you haven't signed up with WOW yet? It seems like a better deal than Comcast with higher upload. said by Alphy : I would cancel immediatley and go to WOW. Same with all my buddies that use Comcast too.

DW - he hasn't switched to WOW - because if you go to their board - all you see is how they can't keep up with demand! Not what i'd call a better deal.. |

I disagree. Newview has begun thoughtful and motivating discussions on the topic of bandwidth caps, and has led an effort to communicate the consequences of caps to Comcast, with the hope of helping to set policy. Why sit around and wait until it happens?
A poll can be a useful tool. Some ISPs take full advantage of the concept.
Cheers to Newview for givin' Comcast a clue! |

A lot of DSL providers DO have bandwidth caps in place already. I don't understand why everyone thinks this is a Comcast idea, or that it can't be done. Other companies are able to figure out how much bandwidth people are using in a month, so Comcast should be able to figure it out eventually as well.
BTW, before I get flamed from here to Christmas (thankfully not that far away), I'm opposed to the idea too. But I disagree with those who say it is technically impossible or difficult or whatever. [text was edited by author 2002-12-06 20:40:33] |

I wonder how many people are giving themselves ulcers and high blood pressure just thinking about the possibility of a rumored cap? There are better things to be concerned with in life then worrying about the what if! |

Some of us are capable of having discussions about topics that interest us without getting ulcers. In fact, we find it enjoyable. Do you mean to tell me that you find normal human interaction stressful and hazardous to your health??
I think you are worrying about people giving themselves ulcers without any proof they are. You are worrying about the "what if"! |

No way dude! I'm enjoying life. It's really funny to see a people complain and get worked up about something that may not even happen.
You want proof how bout this comment in another thread: "if they impose a download cap I cancel my service and go back to dial-up!" Enough said! |

| reply to newview Keep using CC HSI 11 /11% It depends on the caps 28 /28%
Remember that is percentage is out of the poweruser educated about networking/broadband type because the majority of the people who post here are in that category..which means that leaves not much out of a very small minority. The reality is that most of hsi customers would be too stupid to even care anyways so you can bitch all you want and Comcast is not going to care less about losing 1 percent of their subscriber base if it means they can make it all up and then more. I know thats not very pro customer...but then again monopolies see customers as numbers and not individuals. [text was edited by moderator] |
