I would download SpyBot S&D, then update it, then run it.
I expect that this will remove any spywase, scumware etc

First hit the "download button on LH side, which will take you to the download page. Scroll down until you see the English version SpyBot S&D1.1, download and install.

I should have some screen shots of how to use the settings.
Be back.

Make sure you use the check marks to make back ups, in the event something doesn't work after a scan, you can re-install what was removed

When you have done all that, go to the online button, click that and you will see a download updates button, hit that and you will see update available shortly.
Put a check mark against all the items you want. The ones you won't want are the language updates. It should download the updates automatically (don't forget you have to be connected to the web first.

When that's all done, hit the "check for problems" button and it will then scan your system. It will tell you what shouldn't be there. Just check those items and hit "remove"

Your system should then be clear of malware

Great thread and wonderful responses, John2g. Any time someone remembers that there are new people here all the time and post screen caps for those folks to feel comfortable with has a huge pat on the back from me. We so often forget how we felt when dropping in here for the first time and perhaps the first time using a computer. This kind of answer is really one of the best values one can get when coming to DSLR and I am glad to see that our members, new and old, go out of their way to help those who are new here.

Bikkat, good for you for being up front and telling everyone that you don't know where to begin. We do get too technical at times, even for very basic use levels. You reminded all of us of that, and I, personally, am thankful that you did. Welcome by the way. You have just become a part of a very large, for the most part close knit family.

Yep, I'd have to agree with JKK.
Nicely done John! You got a "thumbs up" on that one.

Nowadays when asked by a newbie for help, I usually tend to *help them* by fixing it myself. I sometimes forget the old phrase: "Give a man a fish & he'll eat for the day. Teach a man to fish & he'll eat a lifetime".

Blkkat, glad you came here & hope the solution from John worked. Underneath the occasional heated discussions you may find here, are some of the most helpful & experienced people you'll ever find. Feel free to invite us for help, anytime!

  John2g,
Thanks for pointing me to this thread pard. You get my vote as well.
(I dropped AdAware the other day for Spybot. Original settings are ALWAYS the hardest. Over time you can make informed changes.)
John2g... another reason DSLreports is my favorite web site.
