What does a grey folder mean?

A red folder means a new thread since your last login time(*), or you have not read the thread since it was added to (but you have read it as some stage)..

A yellow folder means we know you have read a topic, and it has not changed..

A grey folder means we have no clue whether you have or have not read the topic .. it was last changed before your last login time and we have no memory of whether you read it ever.

It would be nice to track every thread you read for all time, but we only track a certain number of them and then start throwing the old data away.

A possible third color could be used to split "new topics that have never read" and "topics you have read but have been since added to". Currently these are both red..

(*) last login time is rather arbitrarily chosen time that changes if you stop using the site for a number of hours then start again, or a few times a day at most..

Nice. Now it's a little easier to keep track of the ones I've previously read but didn't post into.

What is so difficult about it? Here let me try to explain it a little differently -

Red - New thread or new post in a thread you've read recently
Yellow - You've read the thread and there's no new posts
Grey - You havn't read the thread recently

I know that's not 100% what Justin is saying, but for all intents and purposes that's all you need to know.

Thank you for this new feature Justin.

I think it's great, that not only do you keep updating and get better as a site in general.

But too me, what makes the biggest difference is that you listen.

You have this forum and our opinion seems to really matter for your decisions.

I think this really separates you and this site from others out there.

You sure it's a folder?

And they look a little more like envelopes than folders to me.

But what does the yellow folder (now that's a folder) in the Topic field mean?

According to the Site Key, "long forum threads can be displayed as a sub-forum by clicking this".. assuming you're talking about this thing .
