Just learned that AOL has cut off peering with Cogent:

I'm currently digging for more info on this.

Probably because Too many Data flow from Cogent to AOL, but not that much going on AOL to Cogent.

Cogent got poor peering already....this.....is really something

If you have AOL for your ISP, and you want to connect to a web site or game server hosted by Cogent, you're screwed: The packets have to take some circuitous path which will kill your game ping and make web sites very slow to load.

AOL'ers should complain to AOL if you frequent Cogent-hosted servers. (My team's web/game server, »matureasskickers.net/, is Cogent-hosted, and we have a few team members using AOL.)

No wonder, I get really high ping with my friends on MSN Zone for the last two days.
Only high ping to certain players, the rest of them still good.

Does AOL have its own user support forums? Perhaps one of you on AOL could forward this information there for those who don't frequent the DSLReports forums, to raise awareness.
