Vo-ip Termination

We're planning to build a vo-ip termination center and looking for the right configuration for it. I need every kind of information. From computer to gateway, software to hardware. Please help me to get clues of the entire system.
Dunno where to start, so you can help me by giving the information about the hardware and software that I may need.

Thank you.

Re: Vo-ip Termination

Thank you for your interest. The site will be helpful soon I guess, since I have a small amount of info about the system. First of all I have to figure out the equipment that I may need, like a gateway or anything like that. And I need a basic explanation about how the system works and about the configuration. I need these kind of information first. But as I said, thank you for your help. I hope I'll use it soon

Again, stick around.

You will receive lots of help on this forum. I wish I could be of more technical assistants, but most of my Telecom experience is business related...

The answers to your questions depend on what you are doing- calling card, origination, or full provider like Vonage or dddc. It is also important to have a good telecom background or know someone who does. If all you want to do is terminate calls into Turkey get yourself a gateway most likely a cisco such as the as5300 and call a voip provider and setup getting traffic routed to you. Re: Vo-ip Termination

Thank you for your replies and for your help. I don't have enough knowledge and experience on the subject but I have a partner who has. The problem is, I have to wait for him for a while and meanwhile I have to get the main points of the system. Now after these replies I got that I'll need a gateway (Cisco or Vocaltec I know). Thank you again. Any further information will be welcomed here

Thank you again.

kreep,

Just to let you know I'm a VoIP Engineer for a Gateway Manufacturing company. I have been installing, supporting, interop testing, and consulting VoIP for over 2 years now. What you are asking is quite broad. I could tell you all the companies who make gateways, proxies, gatekeepers etc. ,but I feel this will load you with useless information for your task. It appears that you need to fulfill an RFI. I would like to know what the application is? Please let me know which one of the following applies:
- Virtual office ( 1 office in Canada and another office in The US)
- PBX Extensions ( Connect a VoIP Gateway off the PBX. This will allow you to have all off your PBX features seamless across the VoIP network)
- Service Provider ( Residential market/small business providing DID's to customers and VoIP traffic) check out Vonage for this example.
- which Protocol and Features do you want to use? What about NAT?

There are many other applications for VoIP, but we will just use these to start.

Please advise. I look forward to hearing your response.

Hope that helps,

Vurcos

Re: Vo-ip Termination

Thank you for your kindness and interest I'll try to explain our aim as long as I can. I have some details that I've heard from my partners and I'll try to give them to you in the borders of my knowledge

We're planning to be a service provider (vo-ip termination center) only. We'll terminate calls in Turkey. I know that we need a reasonable internet connection (I guess we're planning to have one which is about 1-2 Mbits up-down). Also I know that we need telephone lines (I think they're called E1 -correct me if I'm wrong please-). The only problem is that I don't know the configuration of the system. I mean the needs of the system. Like hardware or software.

I know, these may not be helpful enough but I'm trying to reach my partner in order to be able to give you good answers

Hope these can help for a while

Really thank you for your interest.

Waiting for your reply
