I'm getting install orders in now to replace the 1-ways. Customers are saying that Direc contacted them and said they have to upgrade to either 2-way or shut down because they won't be supporting the system anymore.
Installer,
I would like to see that memo. I never got one and I was told something totally different via HNS. This will scare allot of customers reading this. Please post your memo that the dealers get stating this to back up what you are saying. Like I sad we never received one. If I was a new customer, this would turn me away very fast.

Hmmm..that doesn't seem to jive with whats happening over at Copperhead's..the grey dishers are getting notices(read-invitations) to upgrade to DW 1-way. Getting new hardware and a $10/mo credit for a years' service. I still believe they'll eventually dicontinue 1-way,as I posted several months back, but why go thru all of this upgrade process if they're killing it sooner?

Guess my point is that you might want to confirm support prior to spending money on it.

Other issues: Make sure you don't have to dial long distance to transmit! Many do

Priceshock is great, free shipping and fast delivery. have bought several from them, most of the time they are better priced then the places the dealers get them. I have had my drs over 1 1/2yrs and would do it again.

I picked up a DirecDuo (tv and internet, one dish) Grey Dish on Ebay for $75 including shipping and handling.

It was used but works great. I like Satellite setup, but since my only other option is slooooooooooooowwwwww dial up my options are limited. The system I bought on Ebay was for my brother whose options are also limited.

I don't know if I would go to 2 way (as an upgrade mind you) since all is quite well here. If you are buying to get started, it really looks tempting, If your choices of internet access are limited.

good luck

The DirecWay one-way systems are great. I have had my system almost a year and I have had very few problems. Other than a few times they were testing stuff out everything has been great. I would keep using it, but I am adding wireless broadband to my company so I will being getting a T1 dropped into the home office in the next week. If I had the choice of one-way or dialup I would take the satellite ANY day of the week. I have gotten download speeds far exceeding several of my friends that have DSL or cable broadband. Of course the FAP kicks the crap out of me on a regular basis.

I have had a few of the price shock systems, they are fine.

Rates are $39/mo. for the service + $10 /mo if you use D'way as your dial up provider. Check to see if they have a local # in your area or keep your current ISP instead.

The DW 3000 can be installed by you, must have a clear view of the southern sky.

I have no idea on those type of sites, may be one of the other members here who has dealt with them will chime in.

I am thinking of buying a Direcpc system from e-bay. I have no other highspeed options at this time. Is it a good move up form dialup and can I still just use my dialup for downloading if I need to??????? What satellite would I be on from Southern Indiana??
A big move from slow dialup for downloads that is, you still be able to use your dialup is something should happen to satellite, last question -that all depends at commissioning.

Edit: About FAP -»Satellite Forum FAQ »What is FAP & How does it work?
