 [DRS] DirecPC to Direcway upgrade?

I just got a letter from Hughes thanking me for being a "direcPC broadband Pioneer" and encouraging me to upgrade to DIRECWAY one way.

They are offering free equipment, free installation (or $50 credit for self install) and $10 off my monthly service for a year.
It doesn't seem to offer much more than 4 extra e-mail accounts, but $10/mo sounds intriguing.
The question is: Do you all think I should do this?

I hear horror stories from white dish people and I haven't had any problems with my grey dish.

Does this mean my old grey dish will not work after a while?

I have had great luck with my white dish, I have been very pleased. Had to recently change transponders; but that is it for a year.

I had posted another thread earlier about the same thing.

I called tech support with some questions:

Will this effectively turn ole grey to a white? yes
What software will we be using? 4.0.39 yikes!!!

After a one year contract (to help them absorb the cost of the equipment) the price goes back to what we're paying now, but we still get our 5 email accounts.

Why? Tech support: "I think DirecPC is going away..."

In other words, it is being absorbed by Direcway, and converted (resistance is futile, you will be assimilated). This is to get things going in one place: DirecWay, which by the other threads seems to be trying to make itself look more profitable.

I am considering the other offer on the DirecPC.com website: Upgrade for $99 month to a 2-way (SRS). It would be a one year commitment, but ole grey is coming up on 2 years old and there still is no hope of cable/dsl. I just wonder what the add-on charge is for my direcduo dish.

Will we stay on the same transponder? I wouldn't think so.
I can't remember what I have but I think is has to be whatever it is because it is the grey dish.

Hardly anyone is on the grey dish, I'd hate to switch to a congested sat. :-(

I recently upgraded from grey-dish to 2-way. I paid for the hardware lump-sum rather than go the $99 / month route, but my installer only charged me about $100 for the DirecDuo kit and LNB that was required to combine the SRS 2-way and my DirecTV. The add-on cost probably depends on the installer ...

Hello

Well I'm definately not going to move or upgrade too Direcway one way. I'm staying put till the bitter end:) They made me move too a different satellite and all is well in Grey land so far. I have no complaints with the old grey. It will be going on 6 years now this February.....I hope this marriage lasts.....

I have to guess on this one, but the symbol rate ect. for the 1 way on G3C is different for the classic greys. For them to assimilate you, (Resistance is futile!) they need to get all the classics gone and replace them with the newer style, then they can change G3C over to a SRS/DRS satellite thus giving them more room to expand.

Again, this is just blue skying on my part, no facts lead me to this conclusion.
