miami, dallas, dc, ne, and atlanta all resolve to the same IP.
chicago and pw resolve to another IP.
So there are really only two server in this list. |

| reply to apilosov I have posted detailed information on how ISPs can support DTV modems at »www.pilosoft.com/modem.txt
I am trying now to figure out how can I reset modems without going through error-prone power-off-insert-paperclip-poweron-press-paperclip-twice process, but for that, I need to be able to find out modem configuration passwords.
I believe I have an idea about the algorithm used to generate the password, it depends on phone number and the IP address (and quite possibly only phone number).
If you knew your modem's password, I would appreciate a "IM" with your old IP,Phone, and password, and I might be able to find out the algorithm used to generate password.
NOTE: I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT YOUR DIRECTV USERNAME AND PASSWORD, I DON'T NEED THAT. I AM TALKING ABOUT YOUR MODEM'S PASSWORD (which looks like ABC0ABC0). |

@140.192.x.x | reply to apilosov I would say that it does not depend on IP, because I had mine changed when Rhythms imploded, but the password stayed the same. Now, I know I wrote it down somewhere, but that was more than two years ago... darn, I wish I could help |

| reply to SilentTech Is there a way I can statically assigned an IP Address to view »10.5.1.2/admin[?]- I don't want to install the direct tv software. I just want to access it directly from another machine via RJ45 or USB? It's not connected to my phone line anymore but I do have my password to access it. I just can't view the admin screen. I am missing something?
Is it: 10.5.1.2 255.255.255.0 10.5.1.1
Or is it:
255.255.255.252

| reply to anonymous2000 Plug the modem into the NIC with a straight thru cable. Change the properties on the NIC to obtain IP address automatically. Reboot the computer. You should be able to surf to »10.5.1.2 if that's the right URL. I don't remember it. |

I took mine apart the other day, & I notice an ARM microprocessor, an Intel Flash Memory, about 1M (I think) of 60MHz (I think) DRAM, an ethernet controller, a USB controller, a serial port, and an ADSL interface.
It looks (at 1st blush) that the ADSL interface runs straight to an ADC, soooo.....
Here's what I'm thinking... Erase the flash (it should include a simple OS), compile linux to ARM, & see if I can burn it into the flash... Just the basic kernel, mind you, with USB support. Put on a USB drive, a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, and I have a nifty little machine to do stuff on.
"What?," you ask? I dunno, maybe build a cluster from free modems? Any ideas?

However, I believe that there's a JTAG interface somewhere on the board, which MAY make it possible to reflash without unsoldering the chip.

Okay.. I just contacted Motorola for data on these microprocessors/microcontrollers:
xpc860srzp50c1 xpc850srzt50b
I believe that the first is 50MHz, and the second is 80MHz. Would make a nice web server box. The processors came from the x1 and x2, respectively. -- "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile. »www.intel.com/design/flcomp/data···0606.htm The flash chips are identical in x1 and x2, except the last set of numbers, which is close, and I believe it to be a serial/batch number. -- "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. »www.rightchoiceelectronics.com/cr.html »www.tobecktrade.com/cross.html
Pages say that it's DRAM/EDO RAM, and each chip is worth 64MB. Can anyone confirm this? 128 seems a little excessive! -- "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Enough research for now If it will help, I will label my pictures with the part numbers and some reference material for all of the chips. What may not seem important could be very integral to knowing what hardware is for what address or pin and could be absolutely needed to get anywhere. -- "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
