do you have to have (1) 3 or more port 10/100 Dual Speed Hub w/ an UPLINK PORT!
(Recommended - Netgear 5 PORT 10/100 Fast Ethernet Hub/Switch - Model FS105)

do you really need a hub? Can't you just connect your PC straight to the PS2 via crossover cable? Another question: what about Windows 98 users? Are the instructions the same?

@aol.com
another question: this works with a USB modem too, right? I have a USB modem, which leaves my computer NIC card open to connect to my PS2 via crossover cable.

I'd recommend CAT5. Other cables would do fine like CAT3 and so on. But again, CAT5 is recommended. And yes you can use either a switch or hub. There's not much difference between a hub/switch. The only difference between them is how they handle communications between computers.

wait, you should be able to connect the PS2 straight to the PC via crossover cables! There is no difference, really. A hub is not needed!!! Hubs are needed only to network multiple PC's together! You see, I have a USB DSL modem, which leaves my nic port open for me to connect to the PS2!! It should work Bombs!!!

He may be right bombs. Crossover cables to behave in the same way as hubs do if you're simply networking two components together.

Hmmm, it's just a matter if the setup can listen and communicate/listen on the USB port

Try it panocha21, we won't know for sure unless someone takes a leap You seem ready to do so anyway

I dont have a crossover cable. They cost ~ $25 for a 50 ft. one and I dont know if I should pay for it just to try it. I dont like wasting money (I dont have a lot of it). Can someone confirm this?

Hey it's new toy! It will take a while to get firm grasp at the situation. So everyone, please post whatever you can can about the setup, including possible corrections you would like to point out. I'm going to try it another machine with win2k to make my strong verification on it. Everyone having fun? I sure am

it'll probably take a while if people don't request for it.

When they are able to drop their clients and move up to the usage of just plain ole PPPOE, things will be easier. I don't see that coming soon, though (unfortunately *sigh*) unless a majority of people make such demands.

But hey, just make the best out of the situation
