Routing problems in Minnesota

Hi All,

A couple of our employees have ATT Broadband at their homes and they are having problems connecting to our business which has Sound Internet as a provider. Here's what I'm getting doing traceroutes to & from Sound Internet and ATT:

209.32.151.xxx TO 24.118.178.xxx drops after hop 12.122.2.221

24.118.178.xxx TO 209.32.151.xxx drops after hop 12.126.248.33

Now this is DEFINITELY an ATT routing problem since these routers belong to AT&T WorldNet Services. I have called ATT tech support (mind you the were completely rude!) and they stated that since these users can get to msn.com there is nothing else they can do for them. Now this has been going on now for about three days with no help from ATT at all!!! I have even called Sound Internet who know of this problem and are getting the same response from ATT.

What to do??? Is it possible to setup static routes around these routers to our business servers?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have no trouble getting through to the 24.118.178 block via 12.122.2.221 router port. If my packets are being routed to your cable modem, so are those from the company's server. The problem is almost certainly in the reverse path. It looks like the router one of whose ports is 12.122.2.221 does not know a route to 209.32.151.xxx.

12.122.2.221 and 12.126.248.38 are ATT IPs, not ATTBI(Comcast). You need to talk to ATT Worldnet Services. ATTBI/Comcast is unlikely to be of any help.

Your BGP situation

It appears that anywhere through AT&T 7018 is not routing anything for AS5006 internally ok.

Looking at how onvoy (5006) is routing from other locations, i would call up onvoy and give them a rundown on their problem and tell them they need to fix their routing with AT&T. Its way not your problem, as you don't have direct connectivity with AT&T.

All the routes I can find with 7018 do run through 5006, so Onvoy should be calling up AT&T and telling them to fix their problem *as a customer*.

Personally, AT&T is going to ignore you unless your a connector. In most all cases, your non-routability is the fault of a connector or a bgp misconfiguration on either then end ISPs point or your point.

Thanks.

Re: Routing problems in Minnesota

EngMN See Profile solved the problem. Some adjustments were made to some old statements on the routers. All is working now! thanks EngMN
