Computer show at Rosemont

I happened to catch the radio ad for the computer show at the Rosemont Convention Centre. Is it this weekend? Is it worth going? The only deal I remember from the ad was for Warcraft 3 for $29..which is not that much cheaper than BestBuy, etc.

Cheers

Happy New Year!

I would have to say no. I went a couple of years ago. First it costs like $10 just to get in (plus another $10 for parking.) Once inside, I never saw any good deals at all. Waste of money in my opinion.

Personally the best computer show in the area is the one held at College of DuPage (next one Jan. 19th)

College of Dupage. I hear that time and again from various people I know. I went once, about four or five years ago, and I walked out with a computer and monitor for a great price. That computer is still alive and well at my inlaws house. I'd have to agree, the COD computer show is great.

Don't get me started on the ones in Orland Park and Tinley though. They mostly just suck.

I went to that one years ago. By the time you factor in the admission and parking, you could do better online. I never saw any decent deals there for anything anyone would actually want.

Just not worth it. As everyone else said with admisson and parking you just don't make out. Go to the College of Dupage show. I go almost every month.

Re: Computer show at Rosemont

I go every time it is in town.
I have picked up many used components for next to nothing. You have to know what you want and where to look. Last year I picked up a server rack for $100. The exact same one listed for over $750. I picked up 2 1 Gig sticks of Micron PC2100 DDR Reg ECC for $160 a stick. These go for $500 each online. There is much more and I could go on for a while listing motherboards, cpu, and other periphs. The deals are there you just have to find them. Yes parking is expensive and it's a long walk to the show from the garage, but, well worth it.

If I can't do it today, I'll figure it out by tomorrow.

Good luck, for everyone's info, the COD show has moved, its now at the Kane County Fairgrounds. corner of Randall Rd and Rt.38 on the West side of St. Charles . next show is January 19th, go to »www.codshow.com and they will give you a $1 off admission. Admission otherwise is $7.

No, the only show that they had at Kane was the Last weekend. All of the other shows show C.O.D as the location. I was at the DuPage fairgrounds show today and some people were saying that last weeks show (at Kane) was dead. What did they expect on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year?

Re: Computer show at Rosemont

$20 before you get in is nuts and it is barely bigger then COD. On top of that the prices are nothing special. $175 for a chieftec case that is under a $100 at newegg.
